Legoland Florida opened October 15, 2011 on the site of the old Cypress Gardens amusement park. Merlin Entertainments, the company that owns Legoland, purchased Cypress Gardens in January 2010 and later that month announced plans to convert the park to a Legoland - the world's fifth.
