Expedition Everest set to open within the month

Walt Disney World annual passholders are beginning to get word that Disney's scheduled Jan. 26-29 for passholder previews for Expedition Everest.

Disney's SOP in the past for new rides has been to throw the gates open for unannounced public soft openings in the week or two preceeding the passholder preview. These can be for just an hour or two, or for the whole day. So keep an eye open around Animal Kingdom over the next few weeks. You might get lucky and have the chance to be one of the new coaster's first public riders. (And of course, should you get that chance, please submit the details!)

Last night, while speaking with a Disney Cast Member to make dinner reservations for our vacation in March, I asked when Expedition Everest would open. She told me April. No exact date she said, but cast members have been riding everest daily as they work out the kinks!

April will be the press event "officially" launching the ride. Expect it to be open to the public long before that.
