Disney's Night Kingdom?

February 15, 2008, 7:56 PM · Came across this blog about a proposed 5th Disney Park at WDW called Disney's Night Kingdom. Sounds interesting...

[The park would be Walt Disney World's fifth, would open in late afternoons... and charge between $250-300 per person. Think a Disney version of Discovery Cove. Look for a 2011 opening.]

Maybe 4-5 giga coasters and about the same number of highest tech dark rides. Plus, the admission is a bit steep. I was never attracted to Discovery Cove due to the high cost of admission.

I mean, most of the animals are more active at night anyway....and I remember about 5 years ago having discussions with folks about how Disney needed a "night-time" event at the park (at that time, we were talking about another dinner show, i.e., Polynesian Luau-type show out on the savannah). I think this is great!!! Another way to leverage existing resources....I mean, the care and feeding of animals is EXPENSIVE....they're smart to look for additional revenue streams to support this. I'm all for it. I hope it's actually a go....

Two things to comment on here: first the Central Florida workforce can not supply the 4,000 CM's he says will be needed.

And as for the AC entertainers going to perform at this new "park", that will tick off thousand of AC devotees because they will have to pay several hundred dollars and wait months or years between visits. I also can't see Disney building a 5th Park where only a few hundred people a night can see it.

Screamscape made more sense saying this sounds more like an after hours tour/experience.

As going to create a lobour shortage and a strain on resouces.

What Disney should do correct me if I am wrong here guys they should expand their parks and build more parks in the Australiasia region.

Or at least to commit to a rapid expansion of its Hong Kong Park, which is overdue even for a young park like it is.

As a few years ago there was talk of Disney buying a large mass of land North of Brisbane here in Queensland Australia. With other sites short listed at the time for a future Disney venture on the scale of Walt Disney World, with heaps of room for expansion.

I put a challenge out to the imagineers of Disney to create and build a park downunder. As it doesnt have to be in or near the hub of the current theme parks already here on the Gold Coast.

You don't go to Orlando just for Universal either, you go for Swaworld & Busch & Wet'nWild.

The rich ones, or ones with a great exchange rate, do them all in a fortnight (2 weeks).

That's why'll they continue to add more attractions in a small area, to attract the millions of visitors each year who comes to "the worlds number one tourist destination".
