April 28, 2008, 1:53 PM · The Simpsons Ride at Universal Orlando is currently having a 'soft' opening...they should be open fully within two weeks...several people were able to take a test ride this past Friday night and gave the ride a 'two thumbs' way up!

[Editor's note: I'm posting this to remind other media outlets know that the Blog Flume is fair game if you've got news that your organization wants to share with the TPI community. Although... embeddable Flash galleries and videos are always preferred to simple links for multimedia.... ;-) ]

April 28, 2008 at 5:53 PM · Since you mentioned other media outlets... More pictures from The Simpsons Ride here: http://www.attractionsmagazine.com/blog/?p=445
April 28, 2008 at 5:56 PM · I'm not looking at any of these, FWIW, so I can keep a fresh eye when I go in two weeks.
April 28, 2008 at 6:56 PM · Robert you are not going to be disappointed. I got to ride it tonight and it was more than I had expected. I had no idea what it would be about and was surprised by what the 5 minute ride held. It was, how do i put it, a "simple, but effective and well done attraction." As a disclaimer to all those that are planing on going. USF has not officially opened the ride even though they have advertised it as open. I waited for over an hour and a half, over a half an hour longer as the wait time was in the front of the building because the ride had technical difficulties and everything came to a complete halt. Employees today told me that they are working on holding back the advertisement since the ride is still in "Technical Rehearsal". Right before you enter the wait line to the ride, you see a few signs as a disclaimer that things can break down at any given point and the ride is not guaranteed to be open, hence employees told me that they are working to hold back advertisements or at least they have been told that Universal is working on that.
I mean you would not want to show up to the park and discover that the Simpsons Ride is not open because they have had larger problems that they had to fix and it was advertised to be open. This would especially not be good if you had to spend your money on the tickets to get in and make that bad discovery. So my advice to everyone is to wait until the ride has officially been opened up with the Grand Opening before going, unless you are staying for vacation for multiple days with multiple days to visit the park or have an annual pass.
April 28, 2008 at 7:26 PM · But all around Orlando are signs with "Simpsons Ride - NOw open"
Its even being advertised on TV, saying its open!
April 28, 2008 at 7:43 PM · That's exactly what employees were telling me today that supposedly Universal was working on cutting back on. The advertisement outside the parks, like on TV and everything. I doubt that they will go forth with those plans but that's just what I've been told by the ride staff today as we were waiting for the tech crew to fix the technical problems that were halting us from riding the ride.
