What's the best thing to eat at a theme park, round 1: Disney's Dole Whip vs. 50's Prime Time Cafe's Pot Roast?

By Robert Niles
Published: July 28, 2008 at 9:42 AM
Our final first-round match-up in our tournament to decide the best thing to eat or drink at a theme park pits the top seed, the Dole Whip sold in Adventureland at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom and Disneyland, against fellow Disney entrant, the Pot Roast from the 50's Prime Time Cafe at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Tell us why you like one, or the other, in the comments, please.

In yesterday's vote, the Turkey Legs from Frontierland in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom eliminated Mrs. Knott's Fried Chicken Dinner, by 55% to 45%. Check back tomorrow, as we begin the quarterfinals.

Pineapple Dole Whip with pineapple juice - $3.99

By Dole Whip I presume you mean the Pineapple Float....correct? It is, after all, the single greatest invention in theme park dessert history.

Either the float or the whip, straight up. FWIW, though, I voted for the pot roast. Just not feeling the sweet tooth, today, I guess.

No doubt the potroast is great too! I just wish it was the Meatloaf instead. It seems like Disney is dominating the foods here. True, they have the most entries, but nothing from Mythos?

Dole Whips are the "most awesomest" treats in the world. OK, that's not good English. But what is good, nay, great are those cool, delectible pineapple delights. They have the power to take your temperature down on even the hottest Florida summer day. To try them just once is to love them for life.

Mythos had two in the field of 16, but both lost in the first round.

It's tough for a place like Mythos, or Brown Derby or Prime Time, in a tournament like this because the voting skews toward the individual, popular snacks, rather than items that make up a larger sit-down dining experience.

That said, I think Casey's Hot Dog over the Banana Chocolate Cake is the worst decision in the tournament to date, rivaling Toad over Tatsu in the Best Ride tournament for clunker of the year. Just my $.02.

Good to know that there's no total blow-outs yet. But I agree, the ratings get skewed when people either love Disney, or haven't been to the other parks except Disney ones. Even if the other food is better.
