New Star Tours film in production?By Robert Niles
There's a report that Lucasfilm is now shooting footage for a new version of the Star Tours film for the Disney theme parks.Published: May 1, 2009 at 2:08 PM /film reports that yesterday was the third day of filming in the L.A. area for the production. Our source reveals that the revamp will incorporate prequel characters (like Naboo citizens and Geonosians) along with many aliens from the original trilogy (Aqualish. Bith, Rodians, etc). In the action sequence, the Star Tours vehicle is now going to be chased by Boba Fett. C3PO and R2-D2 are still the hosts, and Anthony Daniels will be recording his parts this week. Admiral Ackbar holographically communicates with the Star Tours vehicle. This isn't going to be a podrace, but another deep space chase, according to this report. No word on a debut date, though 2011 has been rumored in the past (40th anniversary of

Scrap Star Tours completely and let's get Wall-E in there! From Anthony Murphy on May 1, 2009 at 3:00 PM
But what does it have to do with MK?

Another space flight idea would be best. Pod racing is an outside sport. Disney simulators are interior-based. From steve lee on May 1, 2009 at 3:33 PM
Thank the maker they aren't going with the pod race. I'd prefer it if they kept all the prequel junk out of it, but beggars can't be choosers. If I hear that Ahmed Best has ANYTHING whatsoever to do with this, however, I'm going to kick a puppy. From 82.71.60.7 on May 1, 2009 at 3:55 PM
All WDI guys will know that they have been playing around with dev on a new Star Tour since as far back as 1995. There are at least four scrapped films I know of - not including the pod racer sim that was prototyped, or the whole legacy project for Orlando. I find it hard to think this will actually make 2010 or 2011 land fall. The re-dev on the sims, the film production, and most importantly the Lucas contract. Remember that Universal and Lucas / Amblin are in deep trouble over new consultancy contract. One last interesting point - the ST simulators would need to be updated with a new operation and service contract, and the only company that could do this has projects / work up till 2012!! WoW. Really 2011? That seems like such a long time if filming has all ready started. From 76.68.239.231 on May 3, 2009 at 9:44 AM

Sounds good. As interesting as a podrace scene might be, I'd leave that for a whole 'nother attraction.. one that would never come. I'm glad to see that it's going to be another deep space film. Here's to hoping it's as great as the original.
