Orlando restaurant critic reviews the top theme park restaurants

Published: May 12, 2009 at 6:46 PM

Every year, on the Fourth of July, we present the Theme Park Insider Awards to the very best in the theme park industry. As in previous years, this year's awards will be:
  • Best Theme Park
  • Best New Attraction
  • Best Theme Park Hotel
  • Best Theme Park Restaurant
  • All the Theme Park Insider Awards are determined by the average reader rating for eligible locations, based on voting from the previous 12 months. Voting will close on June 20. We'll talk more about the first three categories in the weeks to come. But today, I'd like to talk about the Best Theme Park Restaurant award.

Based on voting to date, I've identified the top restaurants, the ones that appear to have the best chance to win this year's award, and I've shared those names with Orlando food critic Scott Joseph. Starting tomorrow, and on each Wednesday for the next several weeks, Scott will be reviewing these restaurants on He also will post links to his reviews here on Theme Park Insider's Blog Flume.

I hope that Scott's reviews will inspire Theme Park Insider readers to click over to the restaurants that they've visited over the past 12 months and submit their own rating and review. (We'll have the appropriate TPI restaurant link in each of Scott's posts here on the Blog Flume.)

Thanks to Scott for joining us on this project, and I'm looking forward to reading what other TPI readers will have to say about the theme park industry's best restaurants.

I guess I should have made that clear. The top five that Scott will be reviewing all are in the Orlando area.

All in Orlando? Surely, Napa Rose is more highly rated than the Hollywood Brown Derby! Or does the restaurant have to be physically located within a park?

Yep. Has to be within the gates of a park.

So what you are saying is that the best theme park restaurants are only in Orlando? I somehow doubt that. I work at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA. I know that we don't have restaurants like those in Disney, but we do have some really good food at our park. With all of the theme parks in the U.S., Orlando can't possibly hold all of the top 12 restaurants.
