Test run for Universal's Hollywood Rip, Ride, and Rockit

June 3, 2009, 6:57 AM · I was online and came across a test run for Universal's Hollywood Rip, Ride and Rockit filmed by visitors last week. The lift seems pretty slow, but could it just be they are testing it? I can't imagine it going that slow once the ride opens.

Thoughts?

Still, glad the testings on and the landscaping isn;t too far from completion now. Another week or two for landscaping to be completed!

THanks for finding the vid :)

The track extends from the front area next to the Hard Rock/Blue Man Group signage by the CityWalk lagoon to the corner left of the Mummy ride. I haven't seen Manta yet but it must also be something special to compete with the RRR. I am so looking forward to riding this.
June 3, 2009 at 9:31 AM · I saw something about a test run of RRR on screamscape.com, I think last week. They actually noted that the actually lift will NOT be that slow. That would take FOREVER. I saw the video, too, and it looks impressive. Kinda bummed that they are so behind on opening it. We'll be in Orlando June 19 through June 29 and I thought for sure it would be open.

Oh well, I guess an excuse to go again in the future.

June 3, 2009 at 10:52 AM · It will actually make to the top of the lift hill in 11 seconds.
June 3, 2009 at 11:07 AM · since i live in orlando, we visit universal quite often. I plan on going tomorrow and hopefully getting some pictures and or videos of the new coaster. maybe they will run it again!
June 3, 2009 at 11:35 AM · I have seen the videos for a while, and the lift hill is actually only going that slow because it is a test run!
June 3, 2009 at 12:30 PM · I happened to be there today and got a good look at it. 2 cranes are next to the ride and welders were working on the track in the area behind the path leading out of Universal to Blue Man Group. Someone was painting the inside queue area as well. Preview rides should start in 2 weeks.
June 3, 2009 at 12:47 PM · I just went on saturday night. I was able to see the crew members climbing all over the trains( could they be testing the song keypads? ) Unfotunitley there was no testing, but the rest of the sight looks like its almost done!
June 3, 2009 at 6:07 PM · Thanks for the peek...Cant wait to give it a spin..My guess is a July 4th week openning..Havent got anything in the mail ...for pass holders yet so ill let you all know
June 5, 2009 at 7:35 AM · Looks good but I still think it's out of place at Universal Studios. I suggest extending the track all the way to IoA and then cutting off the Studios end like so much umbilical chord.
The Rip, Ride , Rockit designer's baby will grow healthier and stronger in it's natural environment instead of wilting in the more sedate atmosphere of it's mother Park.
June 5, 2009 at 10:35 AM · Was just there again today. A 20 foot section of the track has been removed at the initial lift hill. July 3 opening in jeopardy. Seems like an engineering miscalculation is causing the lift hill to be reworked.
