Thorpe Park wants to battle B.O.By Anthony Murphy
Thought this would brighten up your day from all this bad news coming from the parks or at least give you something to think about:Published: August 19, 2009 at 1:41 PM Thorpe Park [anyone want to update those listings? - Ed.] in England has now told their patrons that they can not put their arms up on their roller coasters. Why you ask? Because they want to stop bad body odor from the armpits of their guests on their roller coasters. Here's a link from the UK Mirror. What next?

Hahaha thats so funny! That just made my day. From Daniel Cernuschi on August 19, 2009 at 1:52 PM
Thats not entirely true. It is only being banned when it is over 25c, and here in the UK it doesnt happen very often. Besides they cant really stop you whilst the rides in motion, just give out free Lynx! From Gareth H on August 19, 2009 at 1:55 PM
I trust content from the Daily Mirror as much as I do from the Sun and the Sport. Daily Star content, top notch, oh how I miss that informative newspaper, especially page 3. From James Rao on August 19, 2009 at 5:48 PM
Not a bad idea for any theme park during the heat of the summer. Word on the street is that Worlds of Fun has been pretty stinky this summer, even when I am not there! =D From Melissa Faulkner on August 19, 2009 at 6:20 PM
Really? (slight head tilt to the left ala Stan on South Park) :) From 69.136.33.212 on August 19, 2009 at 6:35 PM
Doesn't really sound like a bad idea. No one wants to smell others armpits, just one wiff could ruin all that time you spent in line waiting for the ride. I don't see much point in holding your arms up anyways. Alot of people say it makes you feel weightless. The coaster makes you feel weightless, where you have your arms has nothing to do with it. I believe I heard it on ABC radio this morning as wild and wacky news. If its not true, I call it a hachet jobs conspiricy due to ABC being own by Disney....OOOOOOOHHHHHH LOL, I doubt it :)
I guess its true what they say about Europeans............. :)

This reminds me of when I went to Universal Studios Orlando close to ten years ago. My family and I boarded the Back to the Future Ride with three random people...who happened to have the worst B.O. ever. It ruined the entire ride for me. From Gareth H on August 19, 2009 at 10:07 PM
Soccer Jerseys, route of all B.O. Evil, especially Liverpool ones, GET THE HINT BRITS, lol.... From 86.170.165.0 on August 20, 2009 at 11:01 AM
This is by far the stupidest thing I've come across in all my time as a theme park fan! Well done Thorpe Park, you've created a fuss about a problem that never existed in the first place. From Adrian Walker on August 20, 2009 at 11:05 AM
This is by far the stupidest thing I've seen in all my time of being a theme park fan! Well done Thorpe Park, you've created a fuss for a problem that never existed. From hannah caller on August 20, 2009 at 11:27 AM
This is the sort of thing that makes me ashamed to be British, it's the most stupid rule I've ever heard from a themepark! You are right about those Liverpool shirts they stink, the Manchester United ones smell the best! :0) From Gareth H on August 20, 2009 at 12:17 PM
Oh I don't know Hannah! Man U stinks pretty bad after yesterday. Long line the Gunners! From Rob P on August 21, 2009 at 7:26 AM
We don't get that problem at the Bridge. Unlike the Gooners we just have the sweet smell of success. You probably don't remember it do you. As for Thorpe Park........it's a marketeers dream. First create a problem that doesn't exist and then sell a solution. Maybe everyone should be forced to walk through a trough of sheep dip and then sprayed with eau de cologne. Oh wait a minute. Don't they already do that at Department Stores ? From Joshua Counsil on August 21, 2009 at 7:50 AM
Oh no - Brit soccer fight. EDIT: Sorry, "football" fight. From hannah caller on August 21, 2009 at 10:50 AM
Thankfully Gareth I'm a Utd fan with a sense of humor, I'm still finding it funny now and being a gooner you obviously have one too! From Gareth H on August 21, 2009 at 11:38 AM
I've got too. Our silverware is a little slim recently, but hopeful for this year after the start we had. Gotta be grateful we arn't Tottenham though, lol. Wow. That really makes me want to book a trip to Thorpe Park.
Not.
On the flip side, I see an opportunity for a deodorant brand sponsorship on the horizon.
