Disney brings Summer Nightastic promotion to Walt Disney World

February 10, 2010, 3:57 PM · Last summer, Disneyland promoted its night-time entertainment - Fantasmic! and fireworks at Disneyland and the Main Street Electrical Parade (now known as 'Disney's Electrical Parade') at Disney's California Adventure - under the "Summer Nightastic" banner.

Disney's Electrical Parade
It's 'Disney's Electrical Parade' at DCA, because there's no 'Main Street' at that park.

Well, Walt Disney World fans, get ready for your own version, because Disney World President Meg Crofton announced today in Orlando that Disney World would adopt that promotion this year, too.

As part of WDW's Summer Nightastic, the Main Street Electrical Parade will return to the Magic Kingdom, along with some new floats. There will also be a new fireworks show, as well as new effects at the Tower of Terror.

February 10, 2010 at 4:07 PM · Wow how cool!!! Ive anticipated the return of the Main Steet Electical Parade for years as I deam its music and floats far more appealing than SpectroMagic. The only part that I don't love is the time. I won't be returning to florida this summer at all unfortunately. Oh Well. Hopefully it will stick around for a few years, possibly....
February 10, 2010 at 5:15 PM · Bringing the ELP back to Orlando is a great way to attract local traffic. Especially parents who saw the parade back in the day who want their kids to experience it. In the summer of 2008, during a visit to DLR, we were DELIGHTED to discover that the ELP was part of the night time entertainment at DCA.

(Wait, too many letters?)

February 10, 2010 at 6:43 PM · I'm hearing rumor that DCA will not be doing the electric parade this year. If this is true I think it's a smart decision with the expected crowd turnout for Worlds of Color.
February 10, 2010 at 6:53 PM · Cool!

Though I was always a fan of Spectromagic! Still can't beat a classic! Not going to WDW this summer, but rather ironically, to Disneyland

February 10, 2010 at 7:44 PM · Ryan, I think that today's announcement confirms that rumor. I suspect that it will be the DCA parade returning to the MK, especially since WDW was promoting the "new" floats that DCA debuted last summer.
February 10, 2010 at 8:47 PM · Yep, it's official. It's the DCA parade that's going to WDW. California fans will get World of Color this summer, and no evening parade at DCA.
February 11, 2010 at 9:19 AM · I was never a big fan of watching parades as a kid, but this one was the exception. The lights and (esspecially) the MUSIC were pure MAGIC! This was like seeing KISS and "Tron" fused together Disney style. This is what dreams are made of.

Greatest. MSEP. Comment. Ever.

February 11, 2010 at 6:35 PM · Thank you, Robert. The Electrical Parade brings out the hyperbole in me. Feel free to use that quote anytime.
February 12, 2010 at 10:55 PM · So, the MSEP is again going to WDW for what has been reported as a temporary transplant while they iron out the logistics of herding about 10,000 people per performance of World of Color at Disney's California Adventure. I was hoping it was just going to make a trip across the esplanade to Disneyland proper and have a glorious return to the park where it was "born". I am reading that this transplant will be for one or two summers, tops. I love this parade and have seen it too many times to give a remotely accurate estimate. I love the enhancements and hope they continue. Since WDW is getting this parade (again), how about sending Spectromagic! to the DLR while MSEP is playing in Florida? I have never seen Florida's version of the Electrical Parade as it has never been presented at Disneyland. The MSEP, will however be marking it's second cross country sojourn to Florida by next summer. I think it is only fair that we West Coasters be given the opportunity to see Spectromagic! on our own turf. Ride wise, we keep getting Florida clones for DLR, how about giving us your parade (temporarily, of course) so we have SOMETHING at disneyland that can be called a parade. The lousy "Celebrate: A Street Party" wouldn't cut the mustard at a Six Flags Park!
February 13, 2010 at 9:41 AM · Wow the last time the MSEP was in Orlando was April 1st, 2001; It ran from May 28th 1999 to that point. I thought the April 1st date was a bad joke. I say welcome back and grow roots. I remember the attendance numbers did rise during that time. This attraction influenced our family to visit the park on 7 different vacation trips each with 5 day passes for a family of 5.

I went to California Adventures May 2006 to see this parade and almost missed it because they ran it at limited times on weekends. If I had a vote I'd send Spectromagic to California for 2 years or longer. I have not been to Disney World in 2 years, but this attraction will draw me back unless it runs only to the end of summer. We do home school and only vacation to Disney outside of the summer crowds.

In 2002 our family visited 36 theme parks-11 were Six Flags
We did as many 29 parks in a 35 day period. This pre summer we were planning a 14 day roller coaster run to 14 parks from as far as East - Knobel's to West - Fronteer City; North to Michigan Great Adventure and South Six Flags over Texas.
We plan on a season pass to Blue Bayou Water Park. The Electric Parade could change our plans to divert or to include. Time will tell.

February 13, 2010 at 7:22 PM · I am very pleased that the MSEP is returning to WDW!!! Was always my favorite parade when growing up in Florida!! Now if only they would bring the DLR version of the Tiki Room to WDW, I'd be smiling ear to ear! :)
