March 18, 2010 at 4:32 PM · Mystery Mine feels more like I imagine going through a gymnastic floor routine would feel than a roller coaster ride. You're flipping, twisting and jumping about, but the experience never really flows. It's one of the few coasters I've ridden that I couldn't anticipate the next move while I was riding for the first time, which is why it's the only coaster I've gotten hurt on in years.

Thunderhead, on the other hand, though it's been duplicated now elsewhere, remains a joy.

On an initial ride, I'd pick Thunderhead by far. But after multiple visits, I suspect that I'd prefer Mystery Mine for its unique experience and narrative. So... this is a toss-up for me.

March 18, 2010 at 4:38 PM · Wow, they're dead even right now!

Thunderhead had more of a re-rideability factor. The one day I spent at DW, I got 26 rides. Ran great in the rain. Operators did an excellent job. The only thing I really liked about MM was the vertical lifts. Slow loading. Just didn't do much for me overall.

March 18, 2010 at 4:49 PM · Thunderhead really didn't impress me as much as I thought it would. It's nice and smooth for a woodie and has lots of little shots of air, but it is not as fast or as interesting as some of the bigger woodies.

Mystery Mine is one of the better themed coasters I've been on, and the main drop is great. Add the awesome zero-g roll and dive loop, and this is a pretty darn good steel coaster.

Thunderhead is my #1 wooden coaster (I have never ridden "The Voyage") and I think although it is a non-themed coaster, it really takes the cake for thrills and re-rideability.
March 18, 2010 at 9:28 PM · I am so mad at myself for missing the voting window! (That'll teach me to spend an evening out with my family...) Thunderhead is one of the best coasters I've ever ridden -- definitely the most airtime! I can't believe it's not moving on!
March 18, 2010 at 10:13 PM · You've got to be kidding me.

I didn't get the chance to vote on this one because I had other things to do. I was home to vote on the other ones. My vote wouldn't have been for Mystery Mine. I'm thinking that this few hour window to vote is going to lower the amount of voters and affect the outcome of the matchups. Voter turnout went into the thousands last year, and now the matches are being determined by a couple hundred people? There should be more time for people to cast their votes.
