Tournament quarterfinals: USH's Halloween Horror Nights vs. Mickey's Halloween PartyBy Robert Niles
And now we come to the last quarterfinal match-up in the 2011 Theme Park Insider Tournament: America's Best Theme Park Event. Published: March 29, 2011 at 9:17 AM We're heading back to Southern California for this contest, putting two very different Halloween events against each other. The upper seed goes to Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights, the west coast version of Universal's popular Halloween franchise. While not as large as its Orlando sibling (which has advanced to the semifinals), the Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights offers its own, unique flavor, incorporating the park's famed Studio Tour. ![]() Mickey's Halloween Party moved from California Adventure to Disneyland this year, and became a break-out hit. While Universal's offering the haunts and thrills, Disneyland's serving up a more family-friendly event, with free trick-or-treating throughout the park. Halloween-themed fireworks and a parade add to the show, which also features the fan-favorite Haunted Mansion Holiday. ![]()

HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS, OF COURSE! Maybe it's just my age, but I prefer "living through horror movies" than being surrounded by children and spooooky Disney characters. I love Disney and all, but HHN wins my vote by a landslide. <3 From 76.94.246.118 on March 29, 2011 at 5:32 PM
I don't think you can really compare HHN to Mickey's Halloween party. They target two totally different audiences. HHN says no one under a certain age and Disneyland is for everyone. I personally like both because I am in my twenties and because I am a Disneyland fanatic. So its a tie for me and I still believe that it isn't right nor fair to compare the two. You're joking, right? When are we going to compare HHN Hollywood to Orlando? Now THAT'S a worth competition! From Robert Niles on March 29, 2011 at 7:54 PM
HHN vs. HHN appears to be shaping up as Friday's semifinal match-up. From 99.54.40.86 on March 29, 2011 at 9:20 PM
HHN is the only place Adults can go and really appreciate a good scare, love Disney… but it shouldn't compete in Halloween contests! From 173.243.75.42 on March 29, 2011 at 11:44 PM
If it was between Hollywood and Orlando, Hollywood would lose by a landslide. Orlando serves alcohol and the money they make from that alone funds a much bigger and better event, they can afford to go all out! The icons they have each year are awesome! My favorites were Jack the Clown, The Director and The Caretaker. I wish Hollywood would incorporate some of the same things Orlando does like The Arrival This article has been archived and is no longer accepting comments.
