Two Florida theme park attractions to close within the month

August 11, 2011, 3:38 PM · It's your last chance to experience a couple of Central Florida theme park attractions. Universal Orlando has confirmed that Jimmy Neutron at Universal Studios Florida will close for good next Wednesday. The ride will be revamped into a Despicable Me attraction that will debut next year.

Over in Tampa, the Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy show at Busch Gardens will close September 3. No word yet on a replacement.

August 11, 2011 at 9:45 PM · Im hoping to reach Universal sunday (can finally go back to Universal!) so I can fly with Jimmy one final time. When i went in June, i got to ride it twice, and it bought a tear to my eye of all these old nicktoons. I still cant get over the fact my favorite childhood ride is closing. That was the first thing i rode at Universal. Now please excuse me while I start to cry. RIP Jimmy Neutrons Nicktoon Blast
August 11, 2011 at 9:49 PM · I just rode Jimmy for the last time and it will be a sad miss ride in future visits
August 12, 2011 at 2:06 AM · I will miss Jimmy as well, we went on that so many times last time we were there..... I hope Dispicable Me is better, but I don't know the characters. I watched all the Nick shows with my little ones for the last 13 years, it is kind of sad to see it go.

My 9 year old daughter (today) said she missed Universal already and wanted to know if we booked next years trip yet.... ugh.

'Nuff said.

August 12, 2011 at 8:16 AM · It's a shame they are closing the Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy show. That really was amazing to see what they were capable of.
August 12, 2011 at 9:43 AM · If Despicable Me isnt better than JN, we should make a petition to bring it back. Anyone with me? Also, Im not familar with the Despicable Me characters either. Ive never seen the movie, and personally I might rent it from Netflix. However, Im very familiar with all these old nicktoons, and I remember the first time I rode this they played clips from the nicktoons. Now all they play in the queue is music videos (from Victorious and, shutters, Big time rush).

There. Fixed!

August 13, 2011 at 4:04 PM · Can we start a petition to bring back The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera?
August 13, 2011 at 4:47 PM · Brian, Hanna-barbara is doing fine. We would rather need a petition for Jimmy Neutron, since Nickelodeon is falling apart.
August 13, 2011 at 9:19 PM · We survived that ride changing from Hanna-Barbera to Jimmy; We'll survive the change to Despicable Me. Besides, it was a great family film with a heartwarming message, if you haven't seen it definitely check it out. The story would definitely fit the current show space though I hope it's just not another revamp of the same ride with a different theme. I hope it's a whole new attraction.
August 14, 2011 at 10:12 AM · I just went on Jimmy Neutron one final time yesterday. It's a shame to know that all of the shows mentioned in the ride have either been canned or are sinking in quality. I can't wait for Despicable Me.
August 14, 2011 at 10:56 PM · I do get the fact most of the shows / characters featured in the JN ride aren't on anymore, but the kids remember all of them and it brings them back to when they were younger.

I know the licensing deal is up and it's one of the reasons for the change. I doubt there is any way a petition would help keep it around, but it would be great to them know how we all feel.
