Wait a minute - there's a Dole Whip store in LA now?Written by Robert Niles
Are you a Dole Whip fan?Published: September 6, 2011 at 8:14 AM Now you don't need to go to a Disney theme park to get your frozen pineapple dessert fix. If you live in Los Angeles, there's a new Dole Whip store in West Hollywood. ![]() House of Dolewhip opened at the corner of Santa Monica and Fairfax last month and advertises that it serves the same Dole Whip as in the Disney theme parks and at the Dole plantation in Hawaii. In addition to the pineapple treats, the store offers soft-serve ice cream and says it will soon offer Hawaiian shave ice. It's even planning a shave ice/Dole Whip combo, which sounds to me like it might shatter world records for awesomeness. I'm in Pasadena, so West Hollywood's a bit of a haul for me, but I've got this on my to-do list. I'd love to hear from any westsiders who've been: What's your verdict on a non-theme park Dole Whip? Thanks to reader M. Ryan Traylor for the tip!

Many yogurt shops don't sell the pineapple flavor. I wonder why. This gives Dole a monopoly. I love the Disneyland Dole version, but I don't mind trying the imitation. From Brandon Mendoza on September 6, 2011 at 9:37 AM
Btw, there's also Lappert's Ice Cream in San Diego! It's off of Scripps Poway Parkway & Pomerado Road. They sell Dole Whip (no pineapple spears though) which can be added to anything they serve! It gets pricey when you start getting multiple flavors, but totally worth it! Try a scoop of ice cream with a "shot" of Dole Whip, with a hat of ice cream on top of that, sprinkled in Oreo dust! PLUS, they have an Adventureland Wait tracker up on the wall for the Tiki Room and Dole Whip line! From Stephen Hicks on September 6, 2011 at 1:02 PM
I was at the Minnesota State Fair last week and was pleasantly surprised to find a Dole Whip stand there. I wish they would bring back the orange whip also like they used to have at Disney World. From Anthony Murphy on September 7, 2011 at 6:20 AM
I was actually able to get Dole Whip at Festival of the West in Arizona a few years ago. This article has been archived and is no longer accepting comments. More Theme Park NewsPrevious article: Dollywood announces $20 million Wild Eagle wing coaster for 2012 |

I was shocked to discover an official Dole Whip stand this past summer in a very unlikely place- a roadside ice cream bar in the Adirondack Mountains, in Tupper Lake, New York. I always thought the parks were the only place to get Dole Whip, but it seems that's not the case. When the server saw me so excited & surprised, she said I was one of a handful of people who have "freaked out" upon discovering it over this past year- nobody working there knew there was anything special about Dole Whip (other than its delicious taste)....
