Disney donates its 'California' Adventure letters to the State FairWritten by Robert Niles
Disneyland announced today that it has donated the old "California" letters that originally stood in front of Disney California Adventure theme park to the California State Fair.Published: May 30, 2012 at 8:56 AM ![]() Disney removed the letters a few years ago to make way for the new, Pan Pacific-inspired entry plaza to the Disneyland Resort's second theme park. The letters now will stand in front of a new entrance to Cal Expo, the site of the state fair in Sacramento. ![]() Artist's concept of the new Cal Expo entry, with the Disney 'California' Adventure letters. This is just about the best destination I can imagine for this. Good call. (And let this also be a lesson to Disney never again to build anything that will one day end up at a state fair.) From Brandon Mendoza on May 30, 2012 at 2:57 PM
I snorted at the never making anything that will end up at the state fair comment! While the letters were cool at first, they looked a bit tacky looking back. I think they fit in much better @ the state fair! From Jay R. on May 30, 2012 at 4:25 PM
I'm just glad I got a photo with them before they were gone! Although it was a bit odd that it said "California"......so basic, haha From Stevo B on May 30, 2012 at 5:53 PM

It seems like a great fit. From 173.189.15.197 on May 30, 2012 at 8:10 PM
I'm glad Disney chose to do something that helped the state and community with the item it no longer wanted. It basically put them into the recycling bin instead of the trash and I appreciate that. I'm glad they chose to do this instead of disposing of the letters intending for no one other themselves to be able to benefit from them. From 99.110.229.222 on May 31, 2012 at 7:43 AM
You're lookin' kind of Indiana Jones there, Robert! From rick stevens on May 31, 2012 at 11:00 PM
I am glad that they are being repurposed. I really did not get the original concept until someone pointed out the California postcard look. I did take many a photo under different letters and enjoyed the seasonal decorations. From Stephanie Blackwell on June 3, 2012 at 2:29 AM
I'm happy that the letters are coming to Cal Expo! How appropriate and it's right in my backyard. Always loved the letters and was sad to see them go, but now I can have a bit of Disney every time I go to the state fair. This article has been archived and is no longer accepting comments.
