Take a video ride on Cedar Point's new Gatekeeper

May 6, 2013, 2:59 PM · Cedar Point today released its official on-ride POV video for its new Bolliger & Mabillard Wing coaster, Gatekeeper.

The Sandusky, Ohio theme park has posted two videos for the ride, one from each side of the coaster train. On a wing coaster, the seats sit on either side of the track, making for some different visuals, especially for a coaster that spends as much time on its side, as this one does.

Here's the left side:

And here's the right side:

Let's go to the vote:

Gatekeeper opens May 11.

By the way, Robert, why didn't you have a "ride both sides in person, then decide" option? We plan on riding both sides, and I don't care how long the line is.
May 6, 2013 at 5:37 PM · For some reason, the left side feels more natural to me, but the right side looked more intense in the video. I voted for the right side because of the intensity, but I'm pretty sure I'll be riding the left side. If that makes sense. If I go.
May 6, 2013 at 6:49 PM · The right side looks like it has more near misses.
May 6, 2013 at 7:08 PM · My son and I watched the videos and had two thoughts: 1) This is not a coaster on which you'd want to ride with your arms up. 2) A more appropriate name for the coaster could have been "Decapitator."

Yeah, there are some sweet near-misses on this one. Can't wait to ride it someday.

May 6, 2013 at 7:45 PM · Looks spectacular, this is going to be a real winner.
May 6, 2013 at 8:08 PM · Nope, not gonna ride it if I ever get to Cedar Point. Either way, the sequel Keymaster should be better ;)

I demand that Sigourney Weaver be at the media day for Gatekeeper!

May 6, 2013 at 9:30 PM · That looks awesome, regardless of which side you're on. The name "Gatekeeper" is kinda lame, though. I'll be there in October, can't wait. It's always nice to ride a coaster while it's still new and smooth running.
May 7, 2013 at 8:36 AM · I voted left side; it has a better view of the beach. I have to say that the first time I saw the big drop I screamed at my computer. The part that goes through those towers are just great. I had a friend who liked to drive from Tampa to Cedar Point (non-stop) just for the weekend. I have heard people say that Cedar Point is even better than Disney world. Mmmmm, apples and oranges. Still, coasters like this one is what make so many people love that park (plus the gorgeous geography)
May 7, 2013 at 11:30 AM · For those of you who don't know Cedar Point, I assume that the name "Gatekeeper" is a reference to the fact that the coaster's two pass-through towers frame the park's new front gate.

Though I'd be totally cool with a Ghostbusters theme, too. ;^)
