'American Horror Story' returns to Halloween Horror Nights this fall

March 29, 2017, 12:49 PM · It's late March, so of course our thoughts turn to glowing pumpkins, rotting flesh, and the screams of theme park guests running in terror from all sorts of ghouls, real and imagined.

Hey, if you're a Halloween fan, it's never too early to start thinking about the next edition of Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. So, for you, the theme park Halloween fan, Universal is helping carry you through the boringly cheerful days of spring with the year's first maze announcement for this fall's event.

Ryan Murphy's hit FX anthology series, American Horror Story, will return for its second year at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights. While last year's initial AHS maze featured moments from seasons 1, 4, and 5, this year's version will complete the set by featuring Season 2: Asylum, Season 3: Coven, and Season 6: Roanoke. Here's the tease:

Season 7 premieres this September, and creator Ryan Murphy has said that the new season will be inspired by the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election. So maybe we can look forward to Universal's twisted take on Disney's Hall of Presidents at Halloween Horror Nights 28 in 2018? (I'm only slightly kidding. I really, really would love to see that!)

In the meantime, there will be plenty to scare visitors with year's maze, which will employ Universal Orlando's largest maze floor plan for the installation. More details and additional maze reveals, of course, are to come in the months ahead.

Tickets are now on sale for Halloween Horror Nights 27, which runs select nights starting Sept. 15 through Nov. 4 at Universal Studios Florida.

It's great that they start mostly from scratch by creating new mazes every year. But The Exorcist was such a hit that they could just redo that maze and the fans would love it.
