Universal Orlando plans Hogwarts castle show, new events for the holidays

April 13, 2017, 10:04 AM · The Universal Orlando Resort today teased a series of new features for the upcoming holiday season at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

The highlight appears to be a new Christmas-themed projection show on Hogwarts Castle in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure. Universal wowed reporters with a projection mapping show on Universal Studios Hollywood's Hogwarts castle when that land opened last year, and fans have been begging for Universal to make that kind of show a regular feature in the park for paying visitors.

Universal Orlando's entertainment director Michael Aiello teased the new show in a promotional video released by the resort this morning. In the video, we also learn about the resort's other planned new holiday festivities.

In addition to the castle show, Universal will be bringing holiday-themed live entertainment to the Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley Wizarding Worlds, starting this November. The parks also will feature special, holiday-themed food in the Wizarding Worlds. (And if it's anything like the Holiday Feast at Universal Studios Hollywood last year, fans should be well pleased with the offerings.) Details on those offerings are to come in the months ahead.

Finally, Universal Studios Florida will be debuting a new holiday parade this fall. The new parade will continue to feature balloons from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, though the procession is no longer branded a "Macy's" parade as it has been in past years, but one featuring the department store giant.
