Tickets now on sale for Disney's virtual reality Star Wars experience

October 11, 2017, 11:41 AM · Tickets now are on sale for Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, the virtual reality experience coming to the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

Billed as a "hyper-reality" experience by Disney, Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire will send visitors in groups of four to play undercover as Stormtroopers, charged with capturing Imperial intelligence vital to the rebellion's survival. (That seems to put the experience somewhere around the "Rogue One" phase of the Star Wars timeline.) Here's the teaser trailer:

The experience — presented by interactive attractions operator The VOID along with Lucasfilm and its immersive entertainment division ILMxLAB — will open in Disney Springs at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida on December 16 and in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim on January 5, 2018. That means that no park admission will be required in addition to the $29.95 per person experience tickets, which are available via TheVOID.com.

I hope they have another IP to tap once Galaxy's Edge opens in 2019, because this is going to seem lame if the Star Wars lands are as detailed and intricate as promised.

October 11, 2017 at 12:57 PM · Thanks for the post, Robert.

The opening day for this experience marked the final day of our vacation so we were able to snag a morning reservation. The time slot I initially picked had been filled by the time I finished registering and I see the first day appears to be half-filled already.

October 11, 2017 at 1:08 PM · Hmmm... $1 per minute. How many theme parks give you 100 minutes of experience time in one day? One spends hours in line to enjoy an attraction for 2-4 minutes. You won't be doing 25 things in a day even when crowds are thin. This strikes me as an unusual value. Hopefully, the price will stay at that level!
October 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM · This looks really cool, and I'm honestly surprised it's only $30 per person (I was expecting $50-60). I'll definitely be checking this out on one of my Disneyland visits this winter.
October 11, 2017 at 3:44 PM · When that was announced, I researched about this company's previous attractions. And they're apparently preety good. Can't wait to try this new super immersive experience.
October 12, 2017 at 10:43 AM · I'm definitely in on this. Star Wars attractions will always cause me to joyfully open my wallet.
October 13, 2017 at 12:06 PM · Really, I'm not surprised by the price. It's only$5 more than a 3d movie at some cinemas.
October 14, 2017 at 8:16 AM · I wonder if they can add this to the Water Park & More option. This would make up for removing Disney Quest.
