Step back into the 1980s as Poltergeist comes to Universal this fall

August 9, 2018, 12:23 PM · Universal confirmed today that it is bringing the 1982 Steven Spielberg/Tobe Hooper horror classic Poltergeist to Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando and Hollywood.

The news was leaked to team members last week and we included it in our Halloween Horror Nights round-up yesterday, so the inclusion should be no surprise. But should be welcomed by anyone looking forward to the retro-1980s vibe that Universal is planning for this year's event, which will be headlined by Stranger Things, also set in that decade. One of the inspirations for that hit Netflix show is Poltergeist, so it'll be fun to see how meta Universal gets with its houses/mazes.

So if you didn't get enough of Craig T. Nelson's family and their supernatural adventures this summer at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, just head up the road for more fun this fall at Halloween Horror Nights! They never should have built Municiberg over that graveyard, right?
