New parking entrance opens at Disney's Hollywood Studios

November 8, 2018, 10:24 AM · Today's the day that Walt Disney World guests will start using the new auto entrance to the Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park.

The old entrance off World Drive is now closed, and guests are being directed to enter the park via a new access road from the intersection of Osceola Parkway and Victory Way, on the east side of the park. The smaller entry from Buena Vista Drive to the north is now reserved for buses only.

The switch is part of Disney's efforts to improve access to and egress from the park, especially as it anticipates a rush of new visitors when the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge land opens late next year. Disney also is connecting the park to Epcot and several of its hotels in the area via its new Skyliner gondola system, which also should open next year.

Other options for getting to the park include the Friendship boats from Epcot and the Boardwalk resort area, as well as just walking over from there, though these avenues have been down at times due to the Skyliner construction.

Disney also is expanding the parking lot at Disney's Hollywood Studios. All the construction has made getting into and out of the park even more of a mess than it has been in recent years, but with these projects now coming to completion — starting with the opening of the new parking entrance today — relief is in sight for Disney World visitors.

In addition, Team Disney is midway through the construction of a massive bus terminal complex at the front of the park.

They should have just called the whole front-gate construction zone Disney's fifth park... with a Bob the Builder theme.

Leaving DHS after fireworks was a major pain even before TSL opened. I really hope the new exit allows for greater traffic flow at those later hours, given the size and scale of the larger parking lot. It is very promising, to start, that there isnt a stoplight planted right at the exit and the bus route will no longer access the same roadway.

So now you have to pay a toll just to get to Hollywood Studios?
