Knott's Peanuts Celebration returns at Knott's Berry Farm

January 26, 2019, 7:23 PM · Knott's Berry Farm welcomed back its now-annual Peanuts Celebration today, with a fresh round of shows, activities, and food devoted to Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the Charles M. Schulz' cartoon gang.

For an overview, let's turn to a character with a bird's-eye view of everything happening at Knott's Berry Farm — Woodstock. Franklin and the little yellow bird have taken over the park's Sky Cabin for the event.

If you know me and my love of learning to draw cartoon characters, you could guess where I went first — the Bird Cage Theatre, for the return of Peanuts Sketch School.

Knott's is hosting several character drawing sessions each day during the weekend event, guided by a veteran Hollywood animator. For my class, we learned to draw Lucy.

Down the street in Calico Park, you can join the Peanuts Cowboy Jamboree and try your hand at roping a sawhorse. Or you can meet Pigpen in the Livery Stable. But every theme park special event festival also needs special food, so Knott's Laura Brubaker talks us through what's on the menu for this year's Peanuts Celebration.

This year's new show for the Peanuts Celebration is "Space Beagle," which plays in the Camp Snoopy Theatre. It's as cheesy and ridiculous as you might expect from the title. Yes, NASA has asked Snoopy to fly to the Moon — in his doghouse, of course.

Other shows include the returning "The Music Goes 'Round and Around" in the daytime and Woodstock's Music Festival after dark, both on the Calico Mine Stage. On the Fiesta Village Stage, Spike's Discoteca de Silencio joins the line-up this year. Knott's Peanuts Celebration runs all day on weekends (and President's Day) through March 10 at Knott's Berry Farm. (Update: Knott's has added two more days to the event: Monday, February 11 and Friday, February 15.)

Love Knott's Berry Farm and, apparently, next year is the 100th anniversary of Walter and Cordelia Knott's original berry farm thay evolved into this Cedar Fair theme park. Definitely one of the most unique back stories in the themed entertainment industry:)
