Here's how to stuff your face at Universal Orlando's Mardi Gras

February 15, 2019, 1:27 PM · Late last year, Universal Orlando got into the dessert party game with an upsell experience for its holiday parade and nighttime lagoon show. We asked then if that would be a one-off or the start of a trend at the resort. Well, now we have an answer.

Universal is doubling down — now offering a new Mardi Gras dessert party as well as an all-you-can-eat culinary extravaganza during Universal Studios Florida's annual Mardi Gras celebration.

The dessert party is the same basic deal and price as the holiday offer. It's $49.99 for adults and $29.99 for kids, plus tax, for access to reserved viewing areas for both the Mardi Gras parade and Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration. There will be non-alcoholic drinks to enjoy during the parade, then desserts, more drinks, and sparkling wine (for guests 21 and older) at the lagoon show. The upcharge party will be available on March 13-15, 18-22, 25-29, and April 1-4 and can be booked through Universal's website.

The new offer is a "Bayou Boil," and it's an all-you-can-eat crawfish boil, for $59.99 per person for adults and $39.99 per child, plus tax. The meal includes crawfish, shrimp, potatoes and corn-on-the-cob, as well as chicken and andouille sausage jambalaya by request. It also includes access to a reserved viewing area for the Mardi Gras parade, where Universal will serve king cake, beignets, sparkling wine, and assorted non-alcoholic beverages. The Bayou Boil kicks off tomorrow night and is available February 16-17, 23, and March 2, 9-10, 16-17, 23-24, and 30-31. You can book it through the same link above to Universal's website.

That Bayou Boil actually sounds like one of the better values among all the upcharge offers I have seen over the years. If I were in Orlando, I'd jump on that one. Would love to hear a report from anyone who tries it!
