Give me Superdawg!
Personally, I'd rather see a choice: All-beef, mix and veggie. Heck, they could charge a few cents extra for the all-beef. (I'd buy the veggie.)
I wonder if this little "controversy" might be a way to set that up - bringing back all-beef as a premium option: the "new Coke/Classic Coke" strategy.
Not to mention, the all beef just tastes better.
Cost cutting here, cost cutting there. It's classic restaurant practice to try and reduce overhead by ordering cheaper food. I'm sure that this isn't the only Disney restaurant that is cutting cost. Most people won't notice such a thing because they simply don't eat at the Disney restaurants all the time to be able to tell the difference. Hey they have to do something to stop the financial bleeding. Universal should counter with a heavily themed Nathan's Hot Dog restaurant.
Are the new hot dogs healthier? Personally, I doubt I could taste the difference.
Also, from my Jewish friends they said that chicken is OK to eat (not pork). BTW, its the same for some Muslims. Being from Chicago, we do not have pork Hot Dogs so its pretty much a wash for me. I prefer the Chili at Casey's anyway!
Oscar Mayer Turkey Franks (tapioca starch - what the H---???)
Oscar Mayer Wieners (chicken parts & saw dust)
(I honestly could not find a national brand that mixed beef and chicken and did not also have pork - so I just picked three common, readily available franks)
At any rate grill up one of each dog above and perform your own taste test.
If you cannot tell the difference, then you either need to quit smoking (cigarettes - all kinds - kill your taste buds), or quit lying.
If you like hot dogs, the all beef Johnsonville dogs should blow you away. There is no substitute for quality.
Let me know.
PS There is no such thing as a good-tasting, healthy hot dog. ;)
I doubt that Disney minds, most people at the parks are visiting from out of town so they are a captive audience.
Little by little Disney is destroying itself from the inside.
But the bigger problem has always been the downside to Magic Kingdom: their food isn't the best! You gotta plan and know where to go. Pretty much, we just eat at Columbia Harbor House and Liberty Tree Tavern. Hopefully with the expansion in a few years, the food will get better.
Fix the noodle station PLEASE!
I'd rather eat an identifiable piece of meat anyway but if I'm going to have a hotdog it doesn't much matter what the blend is.I know it's cr*p......but I hate to admit that it's often tasty cr*p
Besides, if you're visiting Walt Disney World and just eating hot dogs and burgers, you are missing out on some of the best food options around. What's wonderful about Disney Parks is that so much variety is available, and the options can be really good. It's not like going to Six Flags where burgers, dogs, chicken strips and funnel cakes represent the full extent of the menu. Those things are offered at Disney for the lowest common denominator, since they demand it.
I say, open your mind to what else is available, and you'll no longer care about this silly hot dog "controversy."
