The move still doesn't make any sense, Dorney also has a drop tower already, and a lot of other great flats. They should have moved it to Michigan's Adventure. That would make a lot more sense.

I read a little blurb online about how Knotts didn't want Demon Drop. Guess it was true. I still think that Michigan's Adventure should get it, unless there are other plans for the park. The economy in Michigan is absolutely horrendous right now.

Putting a drop ride in a Michigan theme park does open all levels of snarky naming opportunities.

"Ride the Detroit Housing Values! New at Michigan's Adventure!"

While I appreciate Derek's and Robert's fun ideas, I gotta ask: if no one wants the ride why not just scrap it for parts? Let's face it, these old school drop rides are clearly obsolete and no longer worth anyone's precious park touring time. If you're not gonna take the time to put the thing inside a haunted hotel and gussy it up with special effects and a Rod Serling narrative, what's the point?

Time to let go, Cedar Fair, just let go.

And while Cedar Fair is dumping obsolete elevator rides, the Detonator at Worlds of Fun is ready for the scrap heap as well....

What a dumb idea. These are the same types of rides that sixflags is scraping because they are so old. You can not even find parts anymore if it breaks. Last time I rode this ride was a great adventure and it was called stunt mans free fall.
I have a some ideas on what dorny might do. They will keep it one summer while they order a bigger and better ride to put in the old laser coaster spot because this is the location the ride will go for some info.

Yeah, it doesn't make too much sense, but I would still like to try it. Dorney doesn't need it at all, though. It's just kinda a waste of money to get it out there. It might pull more people from saying "New ride at dorney!", but I doubt it will do too much.

In most big parks and major markets, this ride is old news. In a smaller park with very little money to spend on a new ride, it's not the worst thing in the world to put this guy up as long as they have parts to maintain it for a little while. I think that Dorney is a better place for it to go than Knotts, but it still isn't that great of a fit. Dorney has direct competition from Hershey, Six Flags, and a slew of small but well run and highly popular Pennsylvania amusement parks (Knoebels, Kennywood...etc) They should be hitting heavy with new attractions. Perhaps they aren't considering Michigan's Adventure because it's relatively close to Cedar Point. It's not a bad reason, but I just can't see this ride getting any real attention anywhere else.

Demon Drop was not my favorite ride at CP, but it was still a fun little diversion with a relatively short wait. So what that it's not the greatest drop ride ever? So what that TOT and Power Tower are much more dramatic? If they can still operate it safely, why not keep it going somewhere? Tear it down because it's old? Just another example of our disposeable society. TOT does not have the monopoly on drop ride thrills. It is possible to have fun on Demon Drop without somehow hurting the feelings of any other drop-type ride.

If Cedar Point is not sending this to the Michigan Park that many of you say it would be the best fit for.... makes me wonder a bit if that park since it is close to Cedar Point may be on the chopping block. Like maybe it is not valued in the chain enough to bother with even sending it a used ride. I don't really know about the Michigan park, but are they getting anything else new this year? Feel free to contrast this comment as I don't neccessarilly know a lot about the park (or parks) in question.

Yes, Tower of Terror does have the monopoly on drop ride thrills. Once you have ridden the Orlando version of the ride all others are obsolete. ;)
