Published: March 18, 2010 at 8:14 AMAlthough Sea Lions Tonight is funny, Blue Horizons has an elegance and timelessness to it that can't be beat. How can you beat the feeling you get when Aurora, Goddess of the Air is in flight, showing Marina all the amazing things about flying? Or Delphus, Lord of the Sea, when he brings out his dolphins? Or the beautiful, moving part where Aurora and Delphus are sharing their worlds with each other? It's all about harmony between ALL worlds (including "negative" ones, with the vulture sequence), and SeaWorld has done a wonderful job at fusing this all together in a story that spans it all, full of beautiful colors, a moving soundtrack, and live animals. Sorry Clyde and Seamore, you just can't beat that! :)
Published: March 18, 2010 at 8:19 AMFor obvious reasons I think Blue Horizons is more breathtaking but ultimately the show places too much focus on the human performers rather than the dolphins. On the other hand, the use of live actors in Sea Lions Tonight works in the shows favor rather than to its detriment and the mix of elements makes Sea Lions Tonight the better show.
Published: March 18, 2010 at 8:34 AMBlue Horizons is the more adult show (I can see kids getting bored during it) while Sea Lions Tonight with the stronger narrative element, much like a movie, appeals to kids of all ages. The adults can really enjoy the pre-show mime and the show has a more interactive nature, which is engaging for the audience. I gave the seal lions my first vote of the tourney.
Published: March 18, 2010 at 9:07 AMHere's a hypothetical: If the mime were performing in front of Blue Horizons, instead of the sea lion shows, would the sea lion shows be as popular?
(Not agreeing with this, just raising it - but I do suspect that the mime does such a good job of warming up the crowd that people react better to the sea lion shows than they would if the mime weren't there.)
Published: March 18, 2010 at 9:24 AMBlue horizons is sea world on acid. The costumes (mainly for the Barbie) and the makeup, and the cheesy plot... I'd rather them do all of the show without the weird story starting with a girl jumping out of her window. Sealions tonight, all the way. Because they make fun of all the cheese :)

Published: March 18, 2010 at 12:38 PMSea Lions Tonight advances! This show is well deserving and although Blue Horizons is good, the sea lion show is just more entertaining.
