Published: April 1, 2010 at 1:56 PMWell I know Disney is generally good about safety, it might be a could time for management to sit down and come up with someways to help prevent some of this from happening. They are defiantly gonna have to come up with a fix.....My hearts go out to the family of the boy and to all those on the bus that had to experience this.
Published: April 1, 2010 at 2:17 PMThis is tragic, but you can't blame WDW for this. If a child is at the wrong place at the wrong time, unfortunately accidents can happen. Most likely the driver never saw him coming.
Published: April 1, 2010 at 3:54 PMGiven how many miles those buses must drive in a year, I'm almost impressed so few accidents have happened. However, the ones that have seem to have happened pretty close together.
If the kid did ride into the side of the bus, then this probably wasn't the fault of Disney or the bus driver. Unfortunately, that probably won't stop the lawyers and OSHA people.
A similar incident happened at my University. A student was riding her bike on the sidewalk, swerved out into the street without looking, right into a university trolley transporting students. Of course, her parents sued (why should their precious daughter be responsible for looking where she was going?) and the city had to rip up the street, double the width of the sidewalk, mark off special bike paths, and reduced the street to one lane on the side of the expanded sidewalk.
