Published: April 8, 2010 at 9:22 PMPowdered sugar is the ONLY way to eat funnel cake. Messy, but oh so good!
Published: April 8, 2010 at 9:46 PMTough call between the powered sugar and strawberries, but I just had a wonderful fresh batch of strawberries today and it definitely swayed my vote that way.
Published: April 8, 2010 at 9:59 PMI would have voted for chocolate sauce but sadly that wasnt a choice! :(
Published: April 8, 2010 at 10:07 PMI want to say none of those choices, although one is close. For me, the best way to eat funnel cake is the way they did it at Canada's Wonderland back in the day - Strawberries and soft serve ice cream. mmm...
Published: April 8, 2010 at 10:16 PMStrawberries and vanilla ice cream would be best! Don't know if anyone actually offers that anymore though.
Published: April 8, 2010 at 10:16 PMForget the bananas, just give me Nutella. NUTELLA ON EVERYTHING.
Published: April 8, 2010 at 10:27 PMYeah, I kept the ice cream off the list out of fear that it would have swamped all other choices.
Perhaps we should just stipulate that whipped cream, ice cream and chocolate sauce potentially go with everything so should be considered as standing options on all other combinations. :-)
Published: April 8, 2010 at 11:14 PMKnott's briefly did a Bacon & Chocolate funnel cake on a trial basis.
Published: April 9, 2010 at 2:28 AMJust powder, everything else takes away from the taste of the cake.
Published: April 9, 2010 at 4:48 AMJust powdered sugar and on a breezy day at Epcot you can share the powdered sugar with those sitting around you! :)

Published: April 9, 2010 at 6:14 AMI'm sitting next to Mark so I can catch some powdered sugar... pb&j please
Published: April 9, 2010 at 6:32 AMI'm powdered sugar all the way, but it's blasphemy time:
I prefer zeppoles to funnel cake.
For those who may not be familiar with zeppoles, they're fried balls of dough. Funnel cake, but in a different form. Elephant ears, zeppoles, funnel cake..all the same roots! Zeppoles are often found at carnivals, boardwalks, and some pizzerias. My parish carnival's are my favorite, and the carnival opens 4/20..right after I get back from Kings Dominion and I-305!
Published: April 9, 2010 at 6:37 AMI normally go for powdered sugar, but last year I opted for powdered sugar and hot fudge. The first half was outstanding, the 2nd half not so much. Sugar overload!
Published: April 9, 2010 at 7:16 AMStraw berries and whipped cream and maybe just a little bit of chocolate
Published: April 9, 2010 at 7:42 AMAgain, I believe that additional research is needed before anyone can responsibly cast a vote.
So we're just gonna have to try 'em all, right? :-)
(I have to admit that I am intrigued by the idea of a PB&J funnel cake. Done right - and it'd be tricky to pull off - it could very well be the thing that kills me from over-the-top joy. Done wrong, it could kill me by just grossing me out so much.)
Published: April 9, 2010 at 11:11 AMI love the powdered sugar, but I also like it when they add just a hint of cinnamon.
Published: April 9, 2010 at 6:19 PMi'm a simple kind of girl....just sugar please!!!
Published: April 9, 2010 at 6:40 PMJust the powdered sugar, please.
But if you want, you can throw in some powdered cinnamon as well...
Published: April 9, 2010 at 7:07 PMA great thempark treat is a belgium waffle with icecream on it that is what these funnel cakes with icecream remind me of. Another good way to eat a funnel cake is have chocolate syrup on top of the sugar. Or even better at a carnival last year I found CHOCOLATE funnel cake.
Published: April 10, 2010 at 3:02 AMi have only had one my entire life.. it was in Epcot from "America Land"
Published: April 10, 2010 at 6:14 PMI am absolutely SHOCKED by the lack of love for Nutella! Have people just never tried this heavenly delight?!
