Published: August 12, 2010 at 9:44 AMCouldn't have set up that line better myself. Disney, your move.
Published: August 12, 2010 at 11:15 AMHow do you know it isn't working realistically.
Published: August 12, 2010 at 11:51 AMI hear a lot of people say "I just saw the Yeti moving last week". It soon occurred to me that these people had most likely never seen the Yeti actually move and were tricked by the strobe light and fan. I believe that once you've seen it move, you never mistake "B mode" for "A mode". I think a large portion of WDW visitors have never seen "A mode" and/or not aware that there is a difference. Obviously, we theme park fanatics know the difference but we're a small percentage . However, if they put the ride into a refurb, almost every park visitor would complain about not being able to ride. So Disney most likely wants to make sure the masses are hapy and won't refurb it until it's in dire need of one or another E ticket attraction opens at DAK.

Thats because they don't yet have a disco outfit for the yeti. Its all about attention to detail.
Published: August 12, 2010 at 2:13 PMWake me when it's an attraction opening.
Published: August 12, 2010 at 2:14 PMThanks, Dan. U made me laugh. Also, I really like how the characters get themed outfits. The coolest one I have seen is a couple of years ago, Minny Mouse got a special costume for Chinese New Year, It was the year of the Rat.
Published: August 12, 2010 at 2:21 PMAnd this is why I love TPI readers. It's the attention to detail. ;-)

Off-topic poster is off-topic.
But to answer your question: It will take tons of money and downtime to fix. They don't have that money in the budget. Also, EE is one othe big draws of DAK. If they shut it down to fix it, attendance --already hurt by the sliding economy-- will drop even further. In a perfect world, the Yeti would be fixed, and fixed now. This is a less than perfect world. It will likely not be fixed for sometime.
Can we, as a people, please move on?
Published: August 12, 2010 at 6:32 PMThis is what I love about Mickey & Minnie (and sometimes Donald, Goofy and Pluto): they have a great sense of fashion.
So much effort is put into these unique outfits for all these unique occasions. Not just in the parks, but for other occasions such as Disney Cruise Lines and Disney on Ice. I love being surprised when I see when Mickey and Minnie not wearing their traditional outfits. You rarely see them in the same unique outfit twice (most of time anyway).
Thanks, Robert, you have provided an excellent example to illustrate my point. This (in addition to cast member stories) is why I keep reading TPI!
Published: August 13, 2010 at 8:06 AMIs it just me or does the yeti story remind you of the plot of JAWS?
You have a huge problem (broken yeti, nasty shark) that calls for something big to your area to be shut down(beautiful amity beach, Expedition Everest). But you can't shut it down because your economy (well attendance) depends on it.
Maybe we need to send Broady up there to fix the problem ;).
Published: August 13, 2010 at 6:11 PMThey'll have to put him into "O" mode- open mouth mode so the air tank can get in ;).
Published: August 13, 2010 at 11:16 PMSince this post turned into Comedy Hour...
@38.104 - Sweet, short, and so right!
@207.114 - Agreed! I only saw it on A-mode, (luckily).
@Robert - The tank joke, good one. I'm still laughing!
But how about the poor Yeti, who cares about the poor thing, with his best days behind him, arthritic podium and all. Cause we all now he has to be scare sleepless, thinking; Oh lord! Don't let them put up a screen here and convert me to Yeti-3D! The poor thing alone in that mountain, with all those disco lights, and not a cocktail/beer, in sight to drown his sorrows!
I'm just saying...
Published: August 14, 2010 at 11:34 PMBut how will they get the Yeti to swallow the air tank?
You're gonna need a bigger throat.
Published: August 16, 2010 at 10:18 AMCan we please get back on topic? I'm sick of reading totally unnecessary discussion about something other than "Attention to detail." I am in absolute agreement with 207.255. With that, may we please get back on topic?
