Mardi Gras ROCKS!!!! It's the best event that Universal has each year!

Not to wax all philosophical here or anything, but given the history of mankind this round doesn't seem like a fair fight: a lengthy celebration for all vices and sins that is characterized by the mass consumption of alcohol and fried goods versus a celebration of the benefits of marathon running (a sport that involves endurance and commitment {two things humans are notoriously crappy at})

Tom's on to something. Healthy and good for you is getting smacked by drink and debauchery by about three to one right now.

Can't say I'm surprised... ;^)

I'll wax political. I've read studies that most of the money raised for a marathon goes toward organizing the event. I'm not sure if this is the case for Disney's marathon, but the concept of a marathon has always baffled me. Why run for a cure? Why not just donate the money yourself? Probably because we're greedy and expect something in return. We won't give the money out of the goodness of our hearts, but we will sponsor somebody to run because we feel they are doing something to earn it. Charity marathons, concerts, auctions - the underlying cause is good, but the methods are unfortunate.

I voted for Mardi Gras. You can't compare the two. One is loaded with great food, drink, and music. The other, while nobler, causes crowd flow problems in the parks and doesn't offer any benefits to the attendees.
