What's missing with Universal are characters that remind you they are in Universal. Universal constantly changes out its character shows and attractions. Nothing lasts. It is different than Mickey Mouse or the Pricesses. Universal doesn't seem to understand how characters make the difference to its theme parks.

Now I can see why Universal has put off confirming the opening of this attraction. I bet they're trying to pull attention away from California Adventure, but I don't think it will do much.

Who needs characters when you got rides like Transformers and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in your lineup? I'm just kidding characters are cool, but nobody else has the luxury of the Mickey Mouse cash machine, but Universal does have some of the most impressive characters in Bumblebee and Optimus Prime walking around the Lower Lot at USH.

As for Despicable Me, it sounds like its going to be a blast for the whole family. I'm waiting for the Despicable Me coming to Hollywood announcement. C'mon Uni just announce it already!

James, I don't think Despicable Me is going to steal any thunder from California Adventure.... It would take an epic Universal HP Phase 2 announcement and some nicely rendered concept art to do that.

Understood NB, I'm just pointing out that the opening announcement is a bit too close to the Cars Land debut to be more than coincidence.
