Published: May 3, 2008 at 11:16 AMThats really sad. This might make me change my mind about staying at the Disneyland Hotel!
Published: May 3, 2008 at 11:37 AMThe incident really shouldn't reflect upon the hotel, Disney or the experience anyone might have staying there. (Except for the fact that it might prompt the hotel to go with sealed windows and no balconies when it gets its rumored rebuild in a few years.)
We included it on the page just to address the activity that people in the area saw yesterday, as well as to set the record straight for rumors that inevitably fly whenever someone dies on Disney property.

Published: May 5, 2008 at 7:39 AMI express my deepest condolences for the bereaved first and foremost and tradegies like this are hard to put out of your mind. So public, so horrific...As a startling fact, a very high number of suicides every year take place on vacations. It has been purported that the reasoning behind this has mainly to do with the fact that...
1) People do not inquire about you when you are on vacation, but when you are coming back. It gives suicidals the time they need to be alone to get their minds decided to carry out the deed.
2) Committing suicide in a tourist area gains large media audience and becomes, in essence, a suicide note of sorts...one they don't have to write.
3) When borderline personalities are not in familiar surroundings, acute episodes can occur, and with no treatment or support from peers or physicians, drastic self depricating behaviors and extreme measures are exhibited and carried out.
All in all, it hurts my heart to know that families and other guests were more than likely moving about the hotel when this took place. I feel for the witnesses as much as the deceased. What a way to start your disney day
