Woodie Coasters Fans: Help Your Friends in the UKAlton Towers: Want to see a giant woodie coaster at Alton Towers? Well, then you need to make your voice heard, so local authorities don't kill the plans.
From Anne Evans
South Moorlands are preparing to throw out plans for a giant woodie (the biggest, the fastest) at AT. Residents have been urged by a group of people to write to the council against the plans (with some pretty unaccurate facts).Posted April 29, 2003 at 12:27 PM We, as theme park fans round the globe, need to make the pile of FOR letters out weigh the AGAINST pile. There is also a petition at: http://www.petitiononline.com/cjw4sw5/petition.html Please, we need EVERYONE to send a letter or sign the petition, fans in other countries, if YOU send letters, it will prove AT is a good, well known park and will probably boost our chances. So c'mon, help us out!

Coaster Force (http://www.coasterforce.com) strikes a blow with political aspirations, I share your concern for a giant woodie for Intamin AG, but a petition (however big) will not decide the fate of this project, financial muscle, local elections (next week in the UK) and revisions of previous plans (such as lowering the height restriction to below the tree line in a number of areas) will make far more impact. I too erge you to use your right to voice an opinion, but if you merely state : rollercoaster enthusiast at the bottom of a letter, you judgement will be severely bias towards Tussauds, anyway, Good Luck....Posted April 30, 2003 at 3:54 AM

Anne you read my mind. I too am fed up with potentailly awesome coasters being turned down for building permission because of a few unhappy locals and wanted some way of providing a voice from the 'other side'. I wasn't sure how a petition could be started but now that one has I ceratainly will be signing it. Right now in fact! Posted April 30, 2003 at 10:38 AM

We've found out what Alton's weapons against AT are, lies!Posted April 30, 2003 at 10:37 AM They've been finding out 'facts' and claim there will be extra noise. The coaster to be built will be an ultra-quiet one. Also the usual 'extra traffic and noise' comments.
