Is Kingda Ka Ever Going To Stay Open More Than It Is Closed For The Day?Six Flags Great Adventure: Haven't seen it yet....
From Frank Manginaro Jr
Everytime My Wife & I Go To Six Flag's Great Adventure There Always Seem's To Be A Problem With Kingda Ka.(And We Both Love This Ride).Posted April 8, 2006 at 7:41 PM The Shortest Time We Have Ever Waited On line Was Two (2) Hours...And That Was From When The Park Opened At 10:00 A.M. (April 2,2006) They Didn't Even Start To Test The Ride Until 11:30 A.M.. While My Wife,I & Others Were Standing On Line For Hour's Before We Finally Ended Up Riding Kingda Ka. The Ride Was Only On For Around Two (2) Hours Before It Was Shut Down For The Day.

Well this is a Six Flags park your talking about so probobly not. They run horrible operations over there and thats from personal experiences. Once KK starts to get older, the line wont be as bad and it wont break down as much (but that wont happen for another couple of years)Posted April 9, 2006 at 6:47 PM

When I went on kingda Ka i did not have to wait at all, it was a matter of running through the line that took the longest. (I went on one of the early fridays last season) But KK does seem to break down alot, it broke down twice after i had ridden in. Posted April 10, 2006 at 5:01 PM

The only time Top Thrill Dragster is closed up in Cedar Point, is when it's a windy day. Does that have anythang to do with it being closed, or just the fact that it's a 6 Flags park?Posted April 17, 2006 at 4:09 PM
From Dustin Kern
It's had a lot of problems. Top Thrill Dragster has been open and operating enough for them to work out most of the bugs. That and the mechanics that work on it know how to fix any hiccups that should happen. Kingda Ka won't probably be staying consistantly open until the end of this season or next season. As with any new technology and cutting edge attraction, it's always going to have a bumpy start.Posted April 17, 2006 at 4:42 PM

Hate to say I told you so....Posted May 9, 2006 at 10:20 PM Dragster had its share of problems the first year or two, but it still had more uptime when it was first out than the newer Kingda Ka. It's a bad mixture of Intamin not improving their design, Six Flags failure to learn from Cedar Point, and also their horrible tendency to drag their feet when fixing a ride. I know that Cedar Point now has many replacement parts ready to go if something goes down, and they move very quickly to fix it. For some reason, I doubt that Six Flags is that prepared, and they have proven it with the amount of downtime they have allowed Kingda Ka to have.

You know, it's getting to the point where people need to pass through a metal detector to get on a ride. With how advanced rides are now a days, it really doesn't take much to screw them up. Sounds like everyone was lucky that no one got hurt.Posted May 10, 2006 at 9:25 PM

I Think That If Kingda Ka Was Not A World Record Breaker Record Roller Coaster....It Would Probably Be Torn Down...Especially With The New Owner...He Doesen't Want To Spend Anymore Money,Than What He Has Too.....Or Even Better If Kingda Ka Keeps Breaking Down & Needs Parts (That Cost $$$$$) By The End Of 2006 Season Admission Ticket's Will Probably Cost $75.00 Just For One Day Admission.Posted May 11, 2006 at 9:00 AM

I would give Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka about 2 months before either brakes down again.Posted May 13, 2006 at 1:52 AM Oh No! Thorpe Park's got Stealth. We might get a mass breakdown here!

that sucks..i am going on sat-guess it wont be open by then, huh. It always breaksdown last year it was for like 8 weeks hope it isent like that again..Posted May 15, 2006 at 6:17 PM

Xcelerator RARELY breaks down. And when I say rarely, I mean it to the point where I've only heard of it breaking down about 2 times. And it was fixed almost instantly. Xcelerator may not be the tallest or fastest, but I am quite satisfied with it, and am glad we never have trouble with it. :DPosted May 17, 2006 at 7:32 PM

Myself and three other coaster fans are due to go to Six Flags Great Adventure in less than two weeks. But now that Kingda Ka is broken and El Torro isn't even open yet there doesn't seem much point in making the trip across the big pond from Scotland. Very dissapointing. We were at Cedar Point last May. You guessed it TTD was closed then as well. The rest of the park was fantastic though. Six Flags just doesn't seem to have many top rides without KK and ET. Posted May 18, 2006 at 1:56 AM If anyone can let me know over the next week or so whether Kingda Ka is open again, I would really appreciate it. It will be the difference between going or not....

I went yesturday (May 20th) which is Kingda Ka one year anniversiry, Kind of sad that its not open. ---They said it would be open in a month right? Well It closed like 3 weeks ago so maybe it will be open by the time you are planning to go. I'm not sure thoughPosted May 21, 2006 at 6:00 AM

It is a pitty KK was shut on it's own anniversary.. Yeah I'm hoping it will be open too. I have the whole week off so I will keep calling the park , because when it opens I want to be there, even if I have to fly out for two days..cheersPosted May 21, 2006 at 12:56 PM

I cannot remember any coaster having this much trouble staying open....I went to SFGA last July and of course KK was closed then I wen to Cedar Point also and stayed two days....The first day TTD was closed due to wind. The second day I finally got on after waiting 2 hours...It was worth it though....i would wait again. Out of this world...Posted May 24, 2006 at 10:15 PM

Well I went to New York for two nights, and went to the park, and yes I did ride Kingda Ka. What a ride. Over before you know it but great. Well worth the wait. Othere rides were cool as well. Nitro was fantastic, as was Madusa, and Batman. Also went on the Great American Scream Machine. Quite dizzying but good none the less. As for Rolling Thunder, what is that all about? It felt like the wheels weren't turning but skidding and it was very rough and a hard ride to enjoy. Maybe needs some oil on the wheels or something. Anyway had a great time and the weather was hot and sunny, couldn't have asked for more. Cheers for your comments, DuncanPosted June 7, 2006 at 12:56 PM

Maybe if some dumb @$$ didnt drop his cell phone it would but come on the 1st one sucked but the second one wasn't there fault.Posted June 7, 2006 at 7:39 PM

Yeah that's not the parks fault-that's some idiots fault. And minor little breakdown during the day arent that bad- KK is roller coaster that needs alot of like technology and stuff and technology doesnt always coperate.Posted June 20, 2006 at 5:52 PM

As Of Today August 11,2009. Posted August 11, 2009 at 4:59 AM Three (3) Years Later....Déjà vu..... Seems Like NOTHING EVER CHANGES (Except The Year's). If You Really Ask Me, I Think Kingda Ka Should Be Taken Down & Rebuilt At A Park (NOT RELATED OR CONNECTED WITH SFGA) That REALLY Takes Care Of Their Rides. Kingda Ka Has Been CLOSED MORE DAY'S Every Year There Seems To Be Excuses After Excuses Why Kingda Ka Is Closed. This Year (2009)It Was Hit By Lightning. I REALLY DO THINK KINGDA KA SHOULD BE TAKEN DOWN & REBUILT AT ANOTHER PARK THAT WOULD TAKE GREAT CARE OF THE RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
