HHN and HOS
Busch Gardens Tampa: Just wondering how many people take full advantage of Central Florida horror and do both HOS and HHN?
Just wondering how many people take full advantage of Central Florida horror and do both HOS and HHN?
I'm from Tampa yet, I've never gone to HOS at BGT and the only time I went to HHN was in 1995 for HHN V: Curse of the Crypt Keeper but, if time permits I plan to go to HHN and utilize the Prefered Annual Pass-holder discount. I loved HHN in 1995 at USF, the scare-zones were great, the houses were scary as hell(of course at the time I was 10 years old,LOL), the atmosphere was fun, etc. I can't wait to revisit HHN!
Its really hard to do both events because of cost, for me. We live an hour and a half from UO and three hours from BGT. Why on earth would we want to stay up until 2 then drive back? Not to mention that both my wife and I like to pour in a little liquid bravery before hitting the houses, so driving is not an option. We have to get a hotel room for each event, which costs...and babysitters for each night.
Tickets are not a problem. If you are a platinum passport holder at BGT you get two nights free called the "Freaky Preview". HHN is great for big discounts if you get your tickets early. The AP holder rate is usually pretty good, and if you can do it during the week you can get the Frequent Fear Pass for about the same price as a single night admission and go multiple times during the week for the whole event...of course that means a lot of sick days at work.
As for the events themselves, I saw someone mention how crowded HHN has been because of it being at IOA. Thats very true. It is very crowded on peak nights. THe houses havent been their normal, but last year has been the best for a while. HOS gets better and better every year. Last year was unreal. This year promises to be better still.
liquid bravery,,,lol,,good one. We normally drive down on thursday and do HOS on the thursday pass holder special price 24.95, and if you ahve 4 friends 19.95 you can't beat that.
All the halloween events have tricks, I seldom stay past 1030 or 11 and by then on thursday we have done all the hosues and good coaster a number of times.

I usually try to do both, but the last few times I enjoyed HOS better than HHN. While HOS may not put as much time or money into their houses and scare zones, they still do a great job. At HHN, I feel the only reason the park is open is to sell alcohol. While I love Bill and Ted's, that tends to be the only consistatly good thing at HHN. The houses two years ago at HHN were sooooooo much better than the ones last year. Busch Gardens also keeps a much tighter control on the drinking. (strange cause they are owned by AB.) HHN, at least the last few years, has felt overcrowded, and there were beer carts every 10 feet or so. Dont get me wrong, I am a big fan of drinking, but I I'm not a big fan of being around a ton of drunks. I also think it depends on which nights you go. For HOS, I too also tend to go the first weekend when it is free for Platinum pass holders... and I got free tickets to HOS last year for a Saturday, so that could explain the crowds.
Which will I go to this year? Both. Which will I like better this year? Time will tell.
i Have been to booth since 2002 and I will agree the last 2 years HOS has been much better. Last year it wasn't even close.

I got a sneek peak at some of the things for HOS this year... The new house they built behind Cheeta Chase is a new concept in houses, and it sounds really really cool, and they are brining back After Hours, that was my favorite house last year, I loved the blaring techno....
The new house this year is called "Trapped behind the Walls" and its not really a new concept. Its a new twist on a People Under the Stairs which HHN did in one of the first few years. While I'm sure there will be a lot of differences, it still remains a house that has been done.

Speaking of People Under The Stairs, its going to use the same group thing as Terror Mines did last year and have people use helmets to see whats going on.
Also, if you like HOS, then you'll be happy to know that their website is up and running, and its creepy. I hope the whole event has that run down dirty feel to it this year.

I hated Terror Mines last year... they needed to do a better job at distributing the lights... They gave one to a group of teenage girls in front of us, and some older people behind us, well, we ended up being closer to the girls, b/c the old people could barely walk, and the girls got scared and started running, leaving us in pitch darkness, and we could not safely see where we were supposed to go. One of the performers took some pity on us, and kept his helmet light on so we could at least see that the path changed directions where we were. But overall I was very disappointed with HHN last year. I remember waiting 90 min for the school one, and it started to rain about 10-15 min b/f we got in the houseand then the house was so disapointing (like all the others)not even worth a 15 min wait.
