When was White Water Landing removed? This was my absolute favorite ride growing up, and was still excellent even two years ago, when I rode it last. What happened? Anyone have any inside information?

Before I did not see why they got rid of Whitew Water Landing, but now I do (the new coaster). Still, I think that CP could have kept it and put it somewhere else, perhaps in the Ocean Motion area. As much as I love the park, I think it is a shame that, being on a peninsula, they have to get rid of popular rides to make room for new ones (not that that is their fault).

To answer your question (since Ryan doesn't seem motivated to), Whitewater Landing closed at the end of the 2005 operating system. The area it took up is being used for part of the new 2007 coaster, supposedly called "Maverick (I don't know if that name has been confirmed or if someone threw it out there and it stuck. Either way, we'll know soon enough as the official announcement for the new coaster will be tomorrow)."

I thought most of White Water Landing was taken out for the Skyhawk?

take a look at a park map sometime, Skyhawk and WWL aren't even in the same area, so explain how they needed to remove WWL to make room for it? It was taken out to make room for Maverick.

Um, I was just asking a question. I don't have a map lying around, but thanks for such a courteous response.

I've seen the map and it was removed for "Maverick," In my opinion, it looks like Maverick takes up A LOT of space. Almost the whole end of the penninsula. That is A LOT of space for a "family" oriented coaster, like said in one of the preview movies. It just seems like it is taking up too much space. It is also themed so you couldn't really have room for anything else in between the coaster. It looks awesome and everything, just it seems to take up way to much space.

It's the way of the world. Move out the old out-dated rides to build more scream machines. A whole lot of people complained when Le Man's was removed at BGE this year to build Griffon. Funny, where were those people for the past 10 years when there wasn't any lines? Plus they have something called water parks. If that's what you want then go to a water park.
