What do you think of Maverick?
Cedar Point: While Maverick may be tamer than some of the rides at Cedar Point, it still has potential to be very popular.
I think that although Maverick is tamer than some of the rides at Cedar Point, it still looks great. Cedar Point is smart because they realize that people have different tastes, and here they are catering to the "Fun but don't make me sick or have me 300 ft. above the ground" group. I think it looks pretty fun and scenic, like Iron Dragon except wilder.
Take a look at one of the videos of it on Cedar Point.com. Do you think it looks like one you want to ride or do you think that it was worth spending $21 million dollars, being the mthird most expensive ride in the park? Also, where are they going to build for the future without taking away rides? White Water Landing was a great ride, but they had to tear it down for Maverick.

It looks like a pretty solid ride. The landscaping/thematic stuff is nicely put together and the layout looks good. As I said previously (can't recall where and not in the mood to go hunting), my only point of contention is classifying it as a family ride - family rides aren't supposed to hit 70mph and have multiple inversions.
I'm surprised by the overall price tag compared to what the other "more extreme" coasters cost, but I nonetheless think it's a good investment.
you know me, im very pumped up to ride maverick even though lines might be long next year. first drop looks fun, air time hill looks like ejector, the tunnel launch will b nice and then flying back thru the first drop will b sweet. And of course, i love going upside down on intamin coasters, super smooth and perfect, just look at volcano....
This ride is meant to be more of a 'family' coaster without being a kiddie one. This is a fast coaster with out the height. It doesn't have a ton of loops like Raptor so it won't intimidate those type of people. It isn't really tall so people afraid of heights won't freak. All of the major thrills of Maverick are going to be close to the ground with objects close to them. This will be a solid investment and ride just as long as they keep the scenery looking good.
Mr. Kinzel said in an interview that they are just going for speed with this coaster since they have enough height in the park already and alot of people are scared to go that high including my entire family except for me and my brother. I don't think that the lines will be longer than MF after about 3 years or so but the first few years will be a nightmare with long lines....
Does anybody else feel like it's a total joke that their pitching it as a family ride?
It is kind of funny that they pitch it as a family ride, but compared to other rides in the park it is tame...kind of anyway. Families will ride this ride..at least the families who come to Cedar Point will.
I think that people will be surprised at the punch that this ride will have. Hopefully all of the landscape renderings make it into the final design because they seemed to add to the experience pretty well. I am a little puzzled at the bright red color of the track. Shouldn't it be a brown or rust color given the concept? Not a big deal though. Cedar Point has gotten themselves a manageable thrill coaster that has a much wider appeal than a ride like Dragster. The small declines in attendance over the last couple of years will be erased next year.
This ride looks fantastic. Honestly, the tunnel part looks FUN.
The height will obviously not intimidate some of the younger riders, so this is good. I was hoping Cedar Points next coaster wouldn't be over 418 feet, so, I'm happy! ;D
