hey guys, I went to PKD on 10/21/06. OMG the crowds were horrible, I mean unbearable. I only got to ride Volcano once and I always ride that atleast 3 or 4 times. By 11:30 the line was streched out past the entrance, we waited an hour and 45mins for Hypersonic, even the hurler was an hour wait, and Anaconda was stretched out past the entrance and so was Avalanche. Kings Dominion really needed to run the rides at full capacity, all the woodies were running 1 train, 1 train that is completley ridiculous, the hypersonic was only running 2, volcano 2, the italian job 2. Flight of Fear was closed all day, Does anyone I mean anybody at all know why it has been closed the past 2 weekends? I was so upset all day, I mean it was one thing after another, the whole day just sucked. Unless you are really really into haunted mazes and stuff I suggest you not to go during fearfest, plus the mazes were really lame, I could have taken my 4 year old thru those and she would not have been scared lol. The only decent one to me was freakshow in 3D, and lines for these mazes of course were about an hour wait.

They probably only open the bigger attractions for fearfest to offset the expenses for the haunted houses...etc. They do at Kings Island, making the lines rather long for something that wouldn't normally be that way. Ride capacity usually isn't the problem, it's just that there are so many people there. Also, it's the weekend on the last days of the operating season. People are getting in that last fix before the park closes for 6 months. Fearfest at KI is always swarming with teenagers...and I mean swarming like you can barely move. Thats great for the parks, who rake in the money, but it means lines for the guests.

Readers take heed. Halloween events are crowded, don't go expecting it to be a normal day at the park. You will wait in line.

I'd stick to going in the Spring. It wasn't crowded for us then. I'm sorry you had such a lousy time. Thanx for letting us know, we now have some idea of when NOT to go, I'm just sorry you had a bad time.

Hopefully next season when Cedar Fair is running the show they run all rides with maximum trains at all times. It makes no sense to just leave the extra trains sitting on the side. What's the whole point of having the extra trains if you're not going to use them. Also, it's not like it costs any extra money to run more trains. I have only seen them running 2 trains on any of the wooden coasters once this summer. You would think with the extra crowds with the park only being open on the weekends (and with it being FearFest) that they'd run as many trains as they could. I understand why Volcano isn't running 3 trains because they only have 2, but Italian Job has 3, Rebel Yell as 2, Grizzly has 2, Hurler has 2, Hypersonic has 4, Anaconda has 2, and Flight of Fear has 3 (although I have no clue why it's closed, anyone know anything?!?!?!?!?).

I agree with u totally Dustin, the lines would have moved so much quicker had they been running rides with all trains, it makes no sense for the extra trains to be sitting on the side just looking pretty. I wish I knew what is up with FOF also. I mean are they just having problems with the ride or what?

Does anyone notice that the coasters(mainly hypersonic) is alot rougher when its cold out? Why is that?

The metal contract/shrinks so the cars have more space to slide around which makes them rougher. The woodies run faster too because less friction from the heat which also is a reason why they are a whole lot rougher.

Cedar Fair's ability to operate at full capacity will do little to help at Kings Island anyway, because they already operate at full capacity now. There are just so many people there. Cedar Point's own Halloweekends is jam packed just about every night. If King's Dominion wasn't operating at full capacity, that's not good for them, but I don't imagine they weren't, not with that many people coming to Fearfest
