Not next season, they've announced that they're adding to the waterpark but any news of a coaster hasn't leaked yet. I doubt that PKD will get a new coaster till the following season.

I'm pretty much positive that the next coaster that they build will be taller than 210' just so they beat out Busch Gardens Europe. PKD hasn't really had to worry about BGE in the past since they only have 4 coasters, but with the recent addition of Griffon it'll put pressure on PKD do come up with a larger coaster.

I'm not sure i've ever even been to the water park. I sure hope that next season KD will get another major coaster. I was there this past saturday to get my 2007 maxx pass..and it was easily the coldest weather i've ever ridden a coaster in. It was def. below 40 at some points. Yep. Quite chilly.

Does anyone know when school lets out for the summer 2007 in virginia? I want to go before school gets out. thanks

First week of June usually. If they miss a lot of school due to snow, then it's the second or third week of June. Pretty much try to get there before June if you can, although I think they're only open on weekends.

Also, you won't see a new coaster for next season, they just spent $21 million for a new coaster at Cedar Point, and also the fact that they just purchased 5 parkes for $2.1 billion. All you'll see is refurbashment of the parks, hopefully parking lot upgrades, and maybe a couple of minor attractions.

I didn't actually mean next season...I actually meant season after next...but yeah.

Sorry, I didn't read your comment completely. The schools change that date from year to year based on when they start, how many planned days off they have, and also how many unexpected closings due to weather and other things. In other words, you'll just have to wait and see.

if PKD gets a new coaster lets take out shockwave and stick the new coaster there

Shockwave should have been taken out years ago. they could put in a strata right there, that would be amazing.

2007 new thing at kd is water park add on.. no new ciaster is coming till after 2008 . since va is a state of commwealth notjing over 100 mph or 400 foot high can not be built.. thanks to the commweatlh on va.. drop zone 305 ft high. hyper sonic 82 mph . that is it for awesome rides at kd.

From Dustin Kern

The fastest coaster in the state is only 82 mph, there's still 17 more mph to go. You could easily build something in the 300 ft range. Also, you may see Cedar Entertainment company try and fight that law.

you can not fight the govt.. so many rules and garabge to go by with theme parks and ins companys getting involed . like have seat beats on all wooden coasters been riding them for 25 yrs no problem . ins companys are taking the fun out of the riding . like speed and height . govt and ins companys are in it together .. like take a risk once and while!!!!

Italian Job is a really sucky coaster. It only goes like 40 mph. Its really slow. I don't know why they need so many restraints.

"I don't know why they need so many restraints."

Italian Job has a single lap bar for each rider. How much less could they put in?

From Christy Shuman

Pete's right there is only a lap bar on Italian job. no seat belts, not OTSR's. Jeff- whats so bad about the ride stopping in the middle? just curious

Ah, that's your problem then. You went on Italian Job expecting some sort of thrill. A common error.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of Italian Job. I appreciate what they were trying to do, but they missed that mark something fierce.

Irregardless, don't let IJ totally turn you off from coasters that stop. Revenge of the Mummy comes to a few dead stops for show elements, but it's still a pretty solid ride.

Oh, and to the poster above who says IJ was the worst coaster they'd ever been on...try a few more SLCs. I'll take dull and pointless over brain trauma any day of the week.

It's a decent all around family coaster. It's not too scary for little kids to get on it, and it isn't a total drag for the parents riding with them. All in all, it's not that bad of a coaster, it might not be a must hit, but I like to ride it first thing in the morning just to get the blood flowing.

The definite arrival of a new coaster is coming. Dominator, from Ohio. Kings Dominion will still be getting a record breaker, the tallest LOOP. The whole coaster is about 160 feet high. Floorless. Loop is about 145 feet high. 60 mph. And no, IJ is not the worst coaster. Super Duper Looper at HersheyPark is definitely the worst. it's pointless!!

I forgot my camera when I went to KD the weekend before Halloween cause it was so nasty out so I couldn't get any shots of the track sitting in the parking lot. I figure that if anyone lives near there and drives up to the gates they can get some really decent shots of the track in the parking lot (and if you got a nice zoom, you could get some sweet shots of them putting it up).
