This weekend at Magic Mountain

Six Flags Magic Mountain: Haven't been to the park in more than 12 years. Planning a trip for this weekend. Any thoughts on winter weekend experience, in terms of operating rides, crowdedness, cleanliness, safety, etc.?

So for my 30th birthday, I'd thought I'd visit Magic Mountain after a 12 year hiatus. I loved the thrill rides back in the day, but I'm a little squeamish about the previous threads on how screwed up the park's atmosphere is. Saw that someone commented that there's some improvements...so what's the bottom line?

Will there be plenty of thrill rides open?
Will I get killed by lack of concern for safety by half-sleep ride operators?
Will I find bad seeds cutting lines and creating bad vibes?
Will there be long lines in the winter?
Will the park be dirty?

Thanks for your input!

half asleep operators, does not make it not safer for you, people always think that operators contol the ride, they dont, they just push a button, and the computer does the rest. there may be some rides closed, and no, i have never gotten a bad vibe there. clean, so what, its not like the whole park is trash, it may be only a few spots, if dirty.

if you like thrills, go to SFMM,if you want happy atmosphere, clean, then go to disneyland, but have fun, i always have fun at SFMM

so long as the place doesn't have the look and smell of a dump,
and there are enough roller coasters open
and there aren't extraordinary wait times to set off line cutters, I'm sure MM would be good times...

anybody know if the park is packed in December?
long wait times for a ride?

I was there in Sept. & it was very clean the workers I talked to seemed very helpful & friendly & not half asleep (not on my visit anyway). I heard X will reopen, supposedly according to their website, in January. You can get discount tix on their website unless you have a pass already but I didn't have an unpleasant experience as far as workers & cleanliness are concerned. The only complaints I remember were closed rides & the rediculous HEAT! UGH! I'll definitly go back when it's not so hot.

I went two sundays ago (11/26) and the park was clean and empty. Every ride (except X and Flashback, ofcourse) was open and each of them were a walk-on. I rode every ride 3 times (tatsu four times) and didn't wait longer than 5 minutes for any ride...or any seat.

And it wasn't stinking hot! In fact; I was wearing a sweat shirt for most of the day.

I think that people give SFMM an overly hard time - but it seems to me that Six Flags are now trying to make it a nice, as well as thrilling, park.

I'll definitly go back LATER in the year or perhaps in the Spring when it's not so hott! Thanx James for letting us know about the temperature, it at least gives me an idea of how to plan for my next visit!
