Halloween Horror Nights 17
Universal Orlando: Its April, but Halloween Horror Nights never rests
Is it really ever too early to start talking Halloween Horror Nights? If you look at the park hours for October it already has Universal Studios closing at 5 and IOA at 6. Tells me its going to be back at the Studios once again. Rumors have been making the rounds for everything from having 8 brand spanking new houses, no repeats....to the return of Jack...again.
So lets run down some shall we:
Back at the Studios
4 shows-New B&T, New main stage show, Beetlejuice, and a new show with Jack in the Animal Actors stage.
8 houses-All based on Lionsgate films including the new Halloween, SAW, Hostel and a few others.
5 new scarezones-based on who knows what
3 new Icons-one male, one female and one creature, some say the return of the Terra Queen, others say Cindy
Theme-Rated R....not recommended "Under 17"...cheese, pure cheese

We need a house based on the recent Universal release "Dead Silence"...
See if it happens, i watched the film and it would make a much better house than it did a scary film..
Remember, DEAD SILENCE!
I really think it is going to be one.....seriously.
AND if you guys want a taste of what HHN Sweet 16, I threw last years HHN Spooktacular up on IOACentral Radio. We had Universal Creative guru TJ Mannarino, Midnight Syndicate composer Ed Douglas, and a few other surprises along the way. It was loads of fun, and everyone on the show was who they say they were...really.

Enjoy!
Wow! This horror nights must be a big thing if they are planning it now. Saw some youtube movies of it. Looked great! Definatly for the older crowd! It would be intersting (though likely impossible) for Disney do something like this. I mean they made Alien Encounter, but had to get rid of it because of complaints!
Would love to see a horror night one of these days, but I do not think I can come down during school!
That brings up another point and question.....
Would you say more locals like yourself go or is it still tourists? I mean I understand that Universal ( and Disney for that matter) draw in alot of tourists. I just think Halloween wouldn't be the time somebody would go on vacation. School, work, etc is in the way for out of staters to take a time off to go down to Flordia.
I'm not surprised people are talking about it this early. I love Halloween Horror Nights, and I guess the feeling is mutual. ;)
I'm just hoping they come up with a good solid theme this year, but I'm sure they won't let us down.
If you listen to the interview with TJ Mannarino, he says it all.....The planning for next year starts on opening day of HHN this year. Its constant. And yes Anthony, people do come to Orlando just for HHN. I know of a guy personally who used to come from Tennesee every year just for HHN. Now he lives in Tampa, so yeah its a really big deal.

We come from SC every year for it (though popping in to the International Food and Wine Festival over at Epcot is a nice plus as well). Despite being a little underwhelmed last year, we'll still be back this year.

I wish people would take the R Rating seriously. More to the point PARENTS would take it more seriously.
I hate seeing little kids there, getting freaked out.
Oh I am sure others come, but I would guess that its more of a local thing, yes? It just seems that haloween stuff at any park would be more local people just because of the timing eg you do not see many people from Chicago or NY down there at that time.
Nothing against HHN, its sounds like one of the best events at any park. WAY better than Fright Fest at my Six Flags (as it should). It would just seem to make sense if there is more locals there. Believe me, if I lived in FL, I would be going to Disney World and Universal often. I wish I could go to events like Haloween Horror Nights, and Beerfest, and Food and Wine Festival, etc. They sound like a good time, but I live too far away!
Last year it passed Knots Scary Farms as the nations top haunted attraction, according to people at Universal....of course. I think that is based on attendance and exit polls.
So while yes, it is a local event, but a lot of people come from all over. Hell, I come from just two hours away every year to go at least once.....and like I said people do come from all over. Some folks plan their whole vacations around HHN...kind of hard to believe, but then again they do the same thing around disney. Some people are just into chainsaws and blood more than they are pixie dust and magic.
i love HHN and go every year, i live in tampa and i think most people who go are from this area. I go with about 20 people. it's great
i went there once when i was little and it was in fantastic but at the same time it was scary.
Looking forward to purchasing my HHN tickets for 2007, does anyone know when florida residents can get discounts? Hopefully, this years HHN will be at both parks! Last years was a bit disapointing being only at the Studios, but it took me back to the earlier HHN!
I used to live in Naples, Fl and now I currently live in Columbus...but I flew down last year for it and have plans to fly down this year. How could I not its a tradition, I have been to it for the last four years...I mean honestly who does Halloween better that Universal?
From last years Golden Ticket awards, no one. They took the crown away from Knotts and gave it to Universal. They've earned it.
Florida resident and AP discounts wont be out until later in the summer.
It will be only at the Studios again this year, as it makes for a more compact fun event. When its at both parks, it tends to be scare zone seperated by miles of walking. There will also be 8 houses this year, from what I hear, and there will be three shows this year.
Florida resident rates are finally up on the site. They've also updated some of the characters for this year. Now all we have to do is start hunting for those Coca-Cola cans with the HHN upc code! Good luck!
On this weeks episode of IOACentral Radio you can hear the actually press conference where they talk about the merge with New Line Cinema, and the fact that they are bringing in Freddy Jason, and Leatherface. There is also speculation (all but confirmed) that Jack will be back as a ringleader of this twisted Circus.
The rumored list of houses, is as follows...this is just a rumor, and nothing has been confirmed:
Freddy Krueger House
Jason Voorhees House
Leatherface House
Dead Silent House
Black Christmas House
Pyschoscarepy 3
Castle Vampyre 2
There are also going to be 4 scarezones, and its possible that there is going to be an 8th house (rumored to be Scary Tales). Black Christmas is said to have an axe wielding Santa chasing you as well.
Going to be a lot of fun.

I will be attending HHN for the first time this year, its going to be 14 of us going age 20-24 and we are going oct 25-29, can someone give us a run down on HHN.
it is a blast, alot of drinking and drunk people!!
You have to buy a seperate ticket for the event Joseph...it will be very crowded....there are haunted houses, and scare zones as well as shows. I would not recommend riding the rides at night, I would do them during the day. What else do you want to do know?

Buy Express Passes. And try not to go on a Friday or Saturday night unless you absolutely positively cannot avoid it. Oh, and buy Express Passes.
I stay in florida do we get discount on the express pass, and is it best to stay onsite or offsite for HHN.
It's me again. We don't know what to do for are 5 day 4 night trip to orlando for HHN. Can someone help us plan this out. We've been to orlando before but not to HHN.
Onsite/Offsite doesnt matter when it comes to HHN...you can NOT, I REPEAT CAN NOT USE YOUR ROOM KEY FOR HHN EXPRESS! I would definately recommend not buying Express, but spring the extra money for the RIP tours....we did it last year, and waited in NO LINES...and we did each house at least twice.
I would plan on doing HHN At least two nights to make sure you see everything there is. If you do a Saturday/Sunday night...do the RIP tours...makes it better.

Erik, what's the price breakdown for the RIP tour? Is it one of those situations where it's beneficial to have a large group? I don't see anything on their website about it.
Lucinda, there is a deal on the website for Florida residents involving Coke UPCs. You may want to wander over there and check it out. Looks like it'll save you $30 off admission, although if you get the RIP tour that may be useless (if admission is included in the cost of the tour. We'll have to wait got Erik's response for that).
They have not released info on the RIP tours this year, but last year, for annual Passholders it was 80 dollars...in addition to your HHN ticket. So you could spend as much as 130 dollars just on one person for the night...not including any other expenses. However, The night I went last year, Express was running at 60 dollars, and the express lines were at 45 minutes. The RIP lines were at 2, if that. We had a special situation, and had just the RIP passes, and did not have to go with the tour, just show our passes and go.
Didn't Universal have something to do with Hostel. If not didn't New Line make it (which Universal has rights to for HHN 17) that could be pretty scary being taken and strapped into that chair and having the people pretending to cut your fingers and toes off etc. .
No, and no. New Line did not make the films, nor did Universal. This was Lions Gate films all the way....which like was said earlier, there was rumor that Lionsgate films were going to be used, but apparently they werent. Would have been ideal seeing that the Halloween remake is going to be out at the end of August.
But the closest thing to a Hostile house was last year with RUN:HOSTILE Territory. In it Eddie inherits a "business" and you saw drills, lawnmowers and all kinds of sadistic crap.

130 per person? That's a little steep for HHN. I've never had any issues with Express Passes, so I guess I'm going to stick to that. $60 vs. $130. Hell, I could spend $95 and have two Express Passes and still come out better.
Any more money and it cuts too deeply into the alcohol fund. And that is not an option.
So is it better to do the rip tour then to get the express pass? And is the price really $130 for the ticket that a little much. I'm going on saturday oct 27 the saturday before Halloween do i really need an express pass or RIP tour?
That depends....do you want to see the whole event?
Yes you will need either the RIP tour or the Express Pass. Lets take a look at that night.
Now, I dont know if you are a florida resident or if you are an AP passholder....so lets look at a straight out ticket. Now according to the site, general admission tickets are 64.95. Express online is sold out. That means it will be available in the parks for about 50 dollars. Thats 114 right there.
And you will still wait in line.
My best advice is to buy your tickets now using the coke discount, and save a boatload. The prices for the RIP tours are still not out yet....but they will be. And they are worth every single penny.
Maybe I missed a post, but what exactly is the RIP Tour?
I stay in Miami so i can get the Florida resident discount, but i don’t see those HHN coke cans any where. What else would you suggest for us to do that weekend?
The RIP tour takes you behind the scenes to see how the houses work, you get to meet some of the cast of the houses. And you get to go through all of the houses before any of the other lines.
Lucina, I suggest just going to halloweenhorrornights.com and seeing what you can do with that.

Erik, do they allow cameras in the RIP tour (at least for the behind the scenes stuff)? That may be incentive enough to get me to buy in.
I do not believe so.
Lucina, you may want to consider the Frequent Fear Pass. Check out Universal's ticket store for it. It'll allow you entry for 13 specific 'off-peak' (quieter) nights, including the 25th (Thursday) and 28th (Sunday). It's $65, the same as a single-night ticket.
If you can spare the two nights instead of just one, you'll be able to space out the houses over two nights and won't have to worry about the express passes. You'll also have to wait in some pretty long lines, but with some friends the wait won't feel as long.
I'm from the UK and I'm going back for my third consecutive HHN (7th overall I think). The Frequent Fear passes have never let me down, I get to really enjoy the atmosphere of the park and the scarezones without having to worry about seeing everything in the space of 5 hours.
This is take on HHN.
Obviously, my SN shows I am a Disney fan. I am a annual passholder and I LOVE it. BUT...
HHN is one of my FAVORITE things ever. I have gone for the past two years and I always am the first person bugging everyone to buy tickets and plan dates. Then I get there and I'm scared sh!#less.
You don't need a Express pass, we went on Friday the 13th last year and it was a decent wait for all the lines.
When the sun is still up, do the rides. When the sun goes down, get ready to scream.
If anyone has ANY questions about HHN, feel free to ask me. I'm a HHN nut. CAN'T WAIT!
They should have got Michael Myers and have the complete set of slashers.
Michael Meyers is currently owned by Dimension now though... and HHN is strictly working with New Line this year.

I'm sure getting anything from the Weinstein brothers would have cost them an arm and a leg. It would have actually made pretty decent sense as the new version of Halloween comes out in August (since apparently releasing Halloween at Halloween is stupid...)
The new Halloween is being released by Lionsgate who brought you Saw and Hostel. I have heard that was the original plan, but they wanted too much for the rights......The rumors I'm hearing are good. A house based on John Carpenters the Thing? Yes please.
From steve lee

VERY MUCH yes please for a Thing house.
I thought Jason was Paramount, not Newline?
http://imdb.com/title/tt0329101/
New Line bought the rights some time ago to the Friday the 13th franchise, and was the driving force behind the texas chainsaw remakes.
Paramount still owns the rights to the name FRIDAY THE 13TH... but New Line owns the JASON character now. Which is why the last few JASON movies have not had "Friday the 13th" in the title (aka JASON GOES TO HELL, JASON X, FREDDY VS. JASON). That's also why the Friday the 13th DVD boxset from Paramount stops with part 8.
check out this website:http://www.halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando/index.html
Im scared =(. I can't wait to go to HHN I'm going the 25-28. I still dont see anything about the RIP tour. And i can't find the coke cans any where.
I think the Carnival of Carnage sounds corny but I don't think Universal would put a bunch of crap out for HHN.
One thing I'm still not clear on, regarding the Express Passes: Do they apply to the HHN houses only or do park attractions like the Mummy ride have separate Express lines, too?
BTW: I went without an Express Pass last year & managed to see every house & show (excluding regular park attractions) before 11pm on a Thursday night. It helped that I arrived at 6pm and they started admitting people at 6:15pm. First two houses were a breeze - 5 minutes at most - but soon after it was an hour wait at each house.

CONTAINS INTRICATE DETAIL AND IS SPOILING. =]
Hi, Im reece, i live in central Florida and my dad is an Architect that use to work with Unviersal Studios so i know all about Halloween Horror Nights.
As you all may or may not know, Universal Studios made a deal with lionsgate films to use Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface as the 3 icons. The event is called "Carnival of Carnage"... Jack is the ringmaster and the 3 sideshows are the 3 icons.
There will be something on dead silence. Maybe a scarezone, but most likely a house. Universal has already released details for one of the houses based on the movie, The Thing. It is suppose to be all state of the art and actually make you feel like you are in antarctica. I will not release any more details even though i know the whole layout. if you would like it, contact me at Blimpo92@cfl.rr.com.
I have not heard of any other houses, scarezones, or shows.
Everything is all new and still in the construction phase. Tickets are $64.95.
The halloween horror nights website is up and running but they have not released details of the house, scarezones, shows, or a map.
The event will be held at Universal Studios and not Islands of Adventure.
If you have anymore questions contact me at Blimpo92@cfl.rr.com.

Bob, the HHN express pass includes all houses, most of the operating attractions (i.e. MIB, Mummy), and traditionally the first show of Bill and Ted.
And I guess that closes out this thread...
