Should we go to Universal Studios?

Universal Orlando: Visiting WDW in 5 days - should we make an effort to go to Universal Studios or is it overrated?

Our family leaves in 5 days for Orlando. We plan to visit MK, AK and HS. We have 5 days there though. People have said we only need one day per park. So - should we to to Universal? I have heard mixed reviews. If you have been recently, can you give me your opinion?? Thanks.

Universal absolutely is not overrated, and well worth a visit.

What *is* overrated, though, is trying to do too many parks in too few days. For a one-week trip, I'd do Disney or Universal, but not try to do both.

Staying at one of Universal's on-site hotels gives a great, and highly addictive, "front of the line" pass to all the attractions at the Universal parks.

Disney offers a free service to collect your bags at the airport and bus them and you to your hotel -- then back to the airport and the end of your trip. Plus, Disney offers early admission on selected days to its parks for on-site hotel guests.

Since both are offering free services to keep you on their property for a week, plus the logistical headaches in getting from one to another (traffic on I-4 in Orlando can be terrible), I say, just go with what they want. Pick one, or the other, and don't try to do both.

Robert is absolutely correct. However, if you feel up to a whirlwind tour, both Universal parks are definitely worth a visit. And, if you can only go to one Universal park, go to Islands of Adventure.

I would stay with only Disney. They are not one day parks. DHS and AK are the only two that could be done in one day if you are lucky. You probably will want to spend more time at MK (cause it has alot of rides) and EPCOT because there is just so much going on such as resturants, entertainment, and it is more of a relaxing walk park.

Universal Studios is OK, but very similar to DHS. IOA is much better (or unique). I was actually able to do the UO parks in one day. I think I was lucky.

If you are going for Disney, stick to Disney

Thanks to all of you for your responses! I really appreciate it. So - we will stick to Disney for this trip since we are on property. We arrive on Sunday night (no park time that day) and leave on Friday night. I guess we will do 4 parks in 4 days. From what I have seen, I think it is do-able (no young kids). I feel better after seeing your responses. Thanks again.

I would go to Universal….
We never miss these two parks because they are our favorites and have a nice variety of rides and attractions…
If you have a rental car then go, if not I would stay at Disney…

Universal is well worth doing and i love both the parks they are not overated, if you or any of your family like rollercoasters i would say try and visit as they have a couple of pretty amazing coasters as well as more "thrill" type rides than Disney.

But as other posters have said if you are limited on days stick with disney for this trip but if you go back make sure you visit they are both truely wonderful parks with some great attractions, Seaworld is also worth a visit!!!

Universal is always included in our trips. You can do both in one day if you plan it right and don't try to ride ALL of the rides. Especially this time of the year.

You will need more time than what your allowing to enjoy all that Orlando has to offer. Also on the low cost side......goto downtown Orlando. There is so much to see and do that does not cost a penny!
