Hotel access to Busch Gardens Europe
Busch Gardens Williamsburg: which hotel is closest to the park?
I will be taking my 16 y.o. son for his birthday to Busch Gardens Williamsburg in mid October over night; which hotel is closest to the park? I would like the option of going with him during the day then letting him go back for a while on his own in the evening. Is it possible to get there without driving?
I stayed in one last year that was 2 minutes from the beltway, and after you got on it, the next exit was BGE's. Let me check the name, I might not get it...
5 min. later...
I'm almost positive... Oh YEAH... It's called Travel Lodge. Description:
Has a Red Roof Inn next to it
RRI owns a mini-golf across the street, only 5 or 10 $ per person (for people that aren't at the RRI)
Has a small pool in the back
Has a back door next to the lobby to get to the parking garage
Motel, or 3 story hotel, forget
Pretty good matinence
kinda cheep, better than RRI
There is a nice "Days Hotel" nearby. (That's an upgraded Days Inn, I guess.) It's on Rte. 199 (the eastern end) just north of I-64. Not THE closest, but close. Hit 64-E and you are entering the BGE parking lot in about two minutes. Or, take Rte. 60 E and pass several food places (near King's Mill) on the way. We enjoyed our stay there in July. There is this really weird bunch of big white presidents' heads (like busts/statues) next to the hotel. I'm not sure what the attraction is, but it is unusual if not a little freaky. There is a nice new shopping center across the street and Water Country USA is next to it (which won't help you much this time of year!) One other thing, if you go north on 199 you hit the Colonial Parkway in a couple of minutes. Very nice for working your way around the Colonial area and Jamestown, Yorktown, etc. without the traffic issues. The hotel may have had a BGE shuttle, but we didn't use it so I'm not 100% sure. Give 'em a call. Good place.

Pending on your taste and budget, the hotels nearest to BGE range in this order.
Kingsmill Resort is right next to the park, but not in walking distance. (note - no hotel is really within walking distance)
Next would be the Marriott at the entrance to Kingsmill.
There is Courtyard by Marriott and a Quality Inn at Kingsmill next in distance and right next to each other.
All of these are within .08 miles to the park via BGE's entrance gate.
Hope this info helps....
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried Kingsmill but they were booked. I got a room at Days Hotel at pretty good rates:$53 thurs and $67 Friday. Pretty nice room with 4 big pillows per bed (impressive), mini fridge, and ice at the end of the hallway. Good free WiFi. No free breakfast but my son had pancakes and bacon in the restaurant that was not too good.
It's minutes to Busch Gardens and (in season) across the street from Water Country. Also, there is a new shopping center across the street with a big Target - handy for picking up water and snacks.
Kingsmill is closest to BGE.
