On the cedar point blog they just put entry called "wood you believe it" with pictures of shipments of wood thats arrived at the park....

Do you think that Cedar Point is going to overhaul Mean Streak...

Did this person actually make a trip to Cedar point and report it there, or are they just making up some more crappy rumors that don't mean a thing?

(I know I have nothing to do with CP, but I'm always excited for a new GCI or B&M coaster!

Lance (the guy who runs Screamscape) is only as good as his sources, but for stuff like this he's usually on-target.

While I don't recall Mean Streak being that bad, maybe it is up for some retracking in the offseason.

GCI is in the middle of a contract with Cedar Fair, so no surprise if they are the ones rehabbing Mean Streak...unless they are starting over.

Mean Streak always needs some work. The ride has been braked to death because it became rough. The first drop obviously wasn't designed to have a trim brake on it, as it has for quite some time now.

I actually liked Mean Streak a few years ago when it was faster and beat the hell out of you. But I'm guessing enough other people didn't care for it and they put brakes EVERYWHERE! This past summer it was just slow, unthrilling and painful. An overhaul will be awesome!!

Steve, yeah, maybe they'll just get GCI to refine or revise it, like maybe take off the brakes and put on their own Millennium flyer trains... that would be pretty cool...

I went to Cedar Point this year in late june and Mean Streak was very rough. I can handle rough wooden roller coasters but this one was way too rough in my opinion. I think rehabing ther coaster would be a great investment, and would make mean streak the great coaster it could be.

GCI is doing the rehab. I can't be sure, but I think that they may have rehabbed Son of Beast at Kings Island after the accident. Whoever did the SOB rehab did a fine job. I actually enjoyed the ride a lot a couple of weeks ago.

well i say it should happen

Not that it matters or has anything to do with the rumor, but I rode Mean Streak in July and laughed the entire time. I found it quite funny, the jack hammering. I had a bit of a toothache afterward, but I couldn't really complain after all the fun I had. I guess it also should be mentioned that I'm 19.

I'm not a big fan of getting bumped around, and I don't remember Mean Streak being bumpy. We were their in August, and rode it several times in a row.

Of course, we rode the front -- as I said, I'm not much for bumpy, and I find the front is the least bumpy place to be.

It would be great if they could speed it up a bit.

I was there on opening day back in 1991. I waited 3 hours and 15 minutes to ride Meanstreak. They were only running one train at the time, the other two were not even at the park yet! There were extension cords hanging all over the structure and the lights for the ride had not yet been installed. I still remember that first ride. I thought Meanstreak was absolutely awesome that day. I haven't ridden it in several years but the last time I did may have been the last time ever. That trim on the first drop gave me such a jolt and from there on out it was a non-stop beating. MS has not aged very well, and I'm not sure any amount of retracking is going to help it.
