Kings Dominion: Any one have any ideas on what will happen with all the Nick and Scooby stuff leaving after 09?

I just got back and it seems as though all Nick and Scooby merch is 50% off. I asked someone at Stroller rental and they said that those attractions and characters would not be back next year. Anyone have any ideas on what will happen? Or what will happen to cool attractions like Scooby's haunted mansion or Ghoster Coaster. The kids really loved that stuff!!

Scooby will probably be back, those licensing rights aren't up yet. It will be all of the Nick stuff leaving, and most likey be replaced by the Peanuts characters, like Snoopy and Charlie Brown. If not replaced with them, there is a small small chance that its replaced by the Hanna Barbera characters like Scooby.

Yeah, paramount, the old park owners, own nick. I think the contract is up with the park for all the nick stuff, so they have to get rid of all the merchandise. I doubt they will get ride of a lot of the rides. As Brandon said, I highly doubt that Scooby doo's ghoster coaster and that other ride will be taken out.

But that doesn't explain why the clerk thinks Scooby Doo is thru, nor why the mdse is marked down. Any chance it is leftover Paramount branded stuff?

To remove Scooby Doo would be difficult. The coaster could be re-themed but what can be done with the haunted mansion? You ride in little Mystery Machines! (Well, I guess we still ride in little Mini Coopers on the non-Italian Job!)

I hope this is not correct. Scooby is legendary at KD!

As many have said, Scooby will most likely stay while the Peanuts and Snoopy move in to take over Nickelodeon Universe (Camp Snoopy anyone?). The thing that I am concerned about is not only Kings Dominion, but Kings Island as well. Not only foes it have most of the same attractions, but it is also award winning for best kiddie land AS IS. So, will it remain so when Snoopy invades? We will just have to find out.

My kids love- excuse me- LOVE- the Snoopy themed areas at CP. For those of you who like to put-down Cedar Fair's ability to theme well, go to Camp Snoopy at Cedar Point. Great design, fun rides for all ages, wonderful little touches. If Cedar Fair does change their parks' children areas to Snoopy/Peanuts themed areas, and if they invest sufficient funds to do so, they have the potential to be outstanding areas. I know the funds is the deciding factor. I hope they don't make me look bad.

I would be shocked if the children's area at KI was completely changed. Sure, it may end up being rethemed but I doubt they would change all of the rides.

Oh man, I can't wait 'til they announce it. Hopefully a big capital investment means an awesome ride. Big money usually means big things.

Well, I guess it could be more than a coaster. I doubt they will, but I wish they could get resturants, a couple shows, and that one huge giga coaster all themed to an aliens, like FoF. I mean, if they WERE to change one of the themes for one of the coasters, would probably be... Anaconda. FoF isn't possible...

Peanuts is officially listed on the KD site (says your kids can get hugs from the Peanuts characters)... It also seems all of the Nick and Scooby rides have been taken off of their page... Anyone have any info on ride rebranding/elimination... We go there at least once a year(from MD) and the kids are anxious to see what may be on the horizon!!!

Last I read, the kiddie areas of the park (Nick Central and Kidsville/Hanna-Barbera Land) are going to be re-themed to feature the Peanuts characters. The re-imagined area will be called Planet Snoopy. The changes are cosmetic in nature and offer nothing more than a general re-theming. The rides will still be the same old carnival kiddie rides, nothing new has been announced.

All of the old Paramount parks are making the switch this year to Peanuts. Scooby will be around for at least another year. It's pretty much only a rebranding. I doubt that any rides will be removed or installed.

Actually it looks as though Scooby is gone too...

all i know is i understand they had to take sponge bob and scooby out, and replacing it with snoopy is ok, but some of those ride names they are coming up with are just plain stupid... boo blasters on boo hill, or something like that, that is just lame.... why not use the great pumpkin or something and theme it halloween w ghosts and all.... i just hope they think a little before they come up with anymore names like that....

And the really sad thing is that Boo Blasters On Boo Hill is being used at King's Island, Carowinds, and Canada's Wonderland, too. Yikes. It's not bad enough to have a horrible name, but then to propagate it around the globe like a disease....ouch!

Worlds of Fun, my home Cedar Fair park, has a place called Camp Snoopy which is really, really, really lame. But since it doesn't have a Scooby Doo dark ride, at least I won't have to deal with the indignity of Boo Blasters on Boo Hill! =)

(In all seriousity, I would give just about anything to have a dark ride at Worlds of Fun - even one with an extremely lame name).

And, you go DOWN to Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion. (There is even a gator under the bridge over a swamp on the queue line!) It's not on a hill at all!
