Anything you want me to check at the EPCOT?Walt Disney World: Going to the Food and Wine Festival, any questions or stuff you want me to find an answer.
From Anthony Murphy
So folks, I am off to the Food and Wine festival very soon for the first time. Is there any questions out there that you would like to be answered? The basics of the Food and Wine Festival and the new Innoventions have been covered, but anything you want me to check out. I will only be at EPCOT and Magic Kingdom for the Halloween PartyPosted October 20, 2009 at 8:17 AM

I have wondered about the Wine and Dine plan. Does that cover the festival at Epcot, or is that extra? My husband and I have talked about going just the two of us possibly next year and would like to check it out. Plus how many venues are set up for each country? Thanks Anthony and have a great time!Posted October 20, 2009 at 1:06 PM

I would like to know if the empanadas are as wonderfully delicious this year as they've been in the past. Posted October 20, 2009 at 2:22 PM Nah, not really. But be sure to get one 'cause they're the yum.

Thanks guys!Posted October 20, 2009 at 4:38 PM It looks like I will be busy writing stuff down from this trip with covering the Boardwalk, Food and Wine, and the Sum of all Thrills. I will make sure to take a ton of pictures. Anyway, to answer your question Amanda, I believe the Wine and Dine has more to do with the Meal Plan than the festival. In other words, you get a bottle of wine or something else with your meal at a table service place. We likely will not be doing that due to the "tastes" around the World. Basically, you need to sign up for various events, most now cost money. Its like reserving for Cinderella's Royal Table. I am doing the Party for the Senses which is apparently the best thing there. My theme is Asian. I will check on the amount of booths, but I know they are not in any paticular order (Greece is by Canada last year). As for the Empanadas, I hear they are excellent. Whats more, I signed up for the tequila tasting which includes Empanadas. Yummy!

Anthony, definitely check out Sum of All Thrills at Innoventions. And the Lobster & Scallop Fisherman’s Pie in Cork, Ireland is supposed to be amazing. Posted October 20, 2009 at 5:50 PM At Magic Kingdom, take a ride on the newly refurbished TTA, and let us know if you see or hear ANYTHING regarding the Space Mountain changes pending... Have a great trip!

Went to the Festival for the first time last year and was a tad disappointed.Posted October 20, 2009 at 7:34 PM The portions are quite small and the prices are very high. With the money I spent sampling most of the booths, I could have easily had three great dinners at the sit-down restaurants. There really should be a plan of some sort that correlated with the event. Some of the food was very good, but probably won't go again. Everything I have been reading about the Space Mountain refurb has been very discouraging. No new track. No soundtrack. It seems only some minor special effects work is being done. I hope this is not the case, but things look bleak. After seeing the wonderful job Disneyland did with Ghost Galaxy this Halloween, SM in Florida could really use the overhaul. If you could, I would like to now if the Kuka Fish in the Nemo ride is working. That is the best part of the attraction and it has been off for my last two trips. Love to hear your opinion on the new Hall of Presidents as well. Have a great trip, Anthony.

I have checked out some stuff on Attractions Magazine Online and the Peoplemover (as I like to call it). Is back up and there are a few videos of it. Brand new script and, sadly, have taken out some of the old type of jokes (Mr. Morrow, your party from Saturn has arrived. Please give them a ring!). As for Space Mountain, it looks like they are taking the Fed Ex stuff out and thats about it. Posted October 20, 2009 at 8:34 PM It seems to me that they are going to redo Tomorrowland (again) and make it more retro than what I consider steam punk right now!

Ricky Brigante over at Orlando Attractions said he prefers the new TTA soundtrack. Said it is less distracting and more relaxing. Heard some of the audio, and I think he may be right. But, then, I never really paid much attention before...Posted October 20, 2009 at 9:56 PM As for SPACE, they spent 12.5 million on something, didn't they? Jeez...just tell me it is going to be dark inside that mountain again, that is all I care about. Otherwise, the ride is fine. Always has been. Just make it real dark...please!

Yes – thanks for asking.. When we visited Epcot in May there was this really beautiful Asian looking woman working in the food court area near where Sorin is located. Even my wife commented how pretty she was and hopefully still is… hahaha Posted October 21, 2009 at 1:30 PM Try and find her and tell her I said “hi”, then take a photo of her and post it here…. Thanks for doing this for me…

Jeez, Brian. That may sound a little creepy to some folks. Posted October 21, 2009 at 2:37 PM But not me. Try to get some shots of the Norway girls while you're at it.

Hey Everybody!Posted October 22, 2009 at 9:34 PM I will give some thoughts and some "tastes" of what to expect when I get back and sit down to write my reports. I, the action packed scheduler I am pretty much am busy the entire time, but taking notes. Anyway, here is some stuff: Food and Wine does allow you to use meal plans, but they are considered snacks. Not bad, compared that you could chose between rice krispie or empmanada.....hmmmm I wonder which one :)
Went to Cat Cora's new place at the Boardwalk and it was spectacular! Very good and perhaps a good competitior to Mythos??? Pretty casual, not like Emeril's, but the food is great. Food and Wine Festival is a must do for any food and theme park fans out there. I will go more into detail, but the organization and implementation is great. Jellyrolls is the Bomb! I have been doing alot of walking since I am staying at the Boardwalk and we are completly opposite of the elevators. Gotta burn that Cervesa and Empanadas somehow.

Hey Anthony,Posted October 23, 2009 at 1:45 AM If you are going back to EPCOT be sure to check out the Tequila area over in Mexico, for a little extra there's some Tequila tasting along with a brief history about the drink.

I've been sneaking over to the food and wine festival. I've been going for a number of years. I agree with one writer, last year was the worst festival ever. This year, things are better. Value has been becoming a big issue. Prices keep increasing. The choices are better and more varied than last year. The festival was started to increase attendence during off season. Now, it appears that Disney is trying to see how much money they can get out of the tourist. Pricest are increasing very fast for the hard ticket functions. The price/portion size of the festival are also rising faster than inflation. I enjoy the festival but this will be my last one for a few years. I just don't find the same value in my entertainment dollar while I'm at the festival.Posted October 27, 2009 at 4:38 PM

Thats ironic because my parents were in the middle between last year and this year's. They liked that you had to reserve and buy tickets for the demonstration. However, they liked the Party of the Senses last year MUCH better. The Asian one was so so!Posted October 27, 2009 at 8:28 PM
