I'm not a huge fan of MF, but I did really like Maverick and Superman/Bizarro at SFNE, so it will be interesting to see if the 305-foot drop will be the only highlight of the ride or if those high-speed turns will make this coaster re-rideable.Posted March 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM I will hope to have coverage of Media Day posted by Thursday evening. The weather is supposed to be spectacular for the rest of this week!

Intimidator 305 is set to open this Friday April 2. I was lucky enough to get a preview ride on the coaster yesterday with Intamin and KD VIPs and let me tell you it is one wild ride. The ride is really fast, and the transitions and airtime are awesome! IMHO, it is better than Millenium Force, but you did hear that from me. You should plan on making your way to KD to ride Intimidator 305 in 2010!Posted March 29, 2010 at 12:27 PM

POV's for I-305 are out and about, and the ride looks incredibly sweet (but a bit on the short side, if you ask me). Many riders (including the poster above) claim I-305 is the Millennium Force killer they have been waiting for all their life. Wow, high praise indeed!Posted April 2, 2010 at 5:28 AM Only problem I have with what I have seen is that the landscaping around I-305 is completely barren and devoid of theme or nature. I hope King's Dominion pretties things up a bit before I visit in July.... I certainly like to have some scenery with my thrills!

It is out indeed, and according to Robb Alvey from Theme Park Review in his POV, it "crapps all over Millennium Force". Yes this coaster has sufaced over all of the projected failures!Posted April 2, 2010 at 6:49 AM Here it is:

It looks insane. Must not miss! No matter what happens. Long queues, I don't care. Those g turns will be enough to turn this coaster to the top 5!Posted April 2, 2010 at 4:00 PM

Rode I-305 three times yesterday. Had very high expectations... was NOT disappointed! Best roller coaster I have ridden. Here's how I'd rate the features (based on my front row ride).Posted April 3, 2010 at 7:44 AM Lift Hill: 10 of 10 - fast, quiet, best in coasterdom First Drop: 10 of 10 - straight down, huge accelleration and wind blast First Curve: 9 of 10 - very intense, train perpendicular to ground @ 94 MPH, near gray-out First Air-Time Hump: 9 of 10 - very long ejector-time duration Rest of Ride: 9 of 10 - extreme speed continues throughout ride, intense but very smooth Seating: 9 of 10 - good room and seperation between adjacent riders, second row in each car is elevated for visibility Restraints: 8 of 10 - the OTSR's do NOT get in your way - I had hands-up the entire ride, best restraints I've seen that aren't lap-only (like a B&M hyper, which get 10 of 10) Loading: 6 of 10 - line moved fast but I didn't like the "assigned seating" and having to beg a ride-op to let me ride in the front row! Theming and such: 7 of 10, as good as most, nothing notable, most of ride is over bare ground for the present (not too pretty) which will improve Overall Thrill Level: 9.5 of 10, only exceeded by launched stratas Intangibles: The I-305 track structure is amazing. Only two towers support the huge lift-hill/first drop. It "looks" state-of-the-art, extremely impressive advance in structural engineering for coasters. The bright red and yellow are visually intense and match the ride experience - this is a beautiful coaster. What I'd fix: The assigned seating has to go. The trim breaks coming back in (before a nice air-time hump) apply too much breaking, IMHO. I will be surprised if this ride is not a Top 10 in the World, maybe landing around #5. Absolutely world-class and an absolute "must-ride".

I'll be going to both Carowinds & Kings Dominion in May, & I'm so excited to ride both Intimidators. I'm not particularly impressed with Millennium Force, so I'm interested to see where 305 ranks on my list.Posted April 5, 2010 at 6:17 AM
