I made it back To Busch Gardens Tampa on Sunday Jan. 2 for a final day of Christmas shows and to see the progress on Cheetah Hunt construction. I uploaded 9 new photos of the coaster construction to:

The tower being built at the SW corner of the loading building is amazing and looks like a thrill and a half. I guess the magnetic launch will send the car up that thing but, wow, it is something new.

They also started putting up track in the former water area of Rhino Rally. It seems like they used a lot of the existing pathways that were used for the floating trucks.

The area between the skyride/loading building and the Rhino Rally area is much the same as last time with a little more excavation adjacent to the Nairobi Train Station.

Enjoy the photos.

Thanks for the photos and the update. We are very excited to see this coaster being added to BGT's lineup. We have been wanting to visit Cedar Point since Maverick was added, but now feel this coaster will probably be a superior version. The re-tracking and addition of new trains for Gwazi will also improve BGT. Gwazi was once in my top 10 list, but was getting too rough.

This has been one of my favorite parks for years, but I feel like they have recently slipped a notch or two in the past year. But they are now poised to surge back up to their previous levels (one Cheetah is up and running).

Does anyone know when Cheetah Hunt will open? I'm planning a visit in March and I'm afraid it won't be open yet.

The Seaworld Parks Blog put up some new photos this week also. They have 1 or 2 from restricted areas that I couldn't get to.

I didn't know Gwazi was being worked on. The last few times I went to BGT, I didn't care about going there because the ride got too rough for me and I pass on it. Looks like I will need to rethink that.

I don't know any set completion date but I can't imagine it being ready before May. They say spring which usually means the very end of spring.

Went back to Busch Tampa on February 4 and took a lot of photos of the Cheetah Hunt construction. I put 9 of them on my flickr page (Cheetah30 to Cheetah38):

along with all the previous ones.

So much has been done in the last month and photos just don't do the ride justice. Track has been set throughout the entire length with only a minority of footage undone.

The ride starts at the skyride launch building and goes out over the Clydesdale barn looping to another launcher and then up the tower. Then it goes north in a sinuous line to the Rhino Rally area, does weird loops and goes sinuously back to the skyride building. (These details were supplied by someone from rollercoasterpro.com I met while there). The track goes below ground several times along it's path. I wish I had a current aerial photo of it.

Enjoy the photos.
