Tron land: where, what rides, what theme parks?

Walt Disney World: Who wants the world of Tron coming to life?

I think the perfect place for a Tron Legacy land is Epcot.
Attractions at this land
1.Tron legacy adventure-It would be a dark ride where you enter the Tron world you would enter and get in the orange ship that they took Sam when he got in, they would take us in there give us a trip and then we will actually play the discs games and be in the stadium then we will run the cycles, they conduce themes elves we just move the wheel, when we finished Koura will come with her car and pick us up we will get in the car and have a fast ride our destination will be Flynn's house there we will ride the Tron ship one will be a pilot and one the shotter (you can pick you're side)And at the end we will get to the portal we will get out of the ship and enter the portal to earth which will be the exit of the ride.
2.Tron Playground-It would be one of the best technologic playground ever it would include kiddie rides and a tech play area.
It seems impossible but I know Disney can make it real.

Let's forget about TRON in a park on any kind of large scale. The original movie is about 30 years old, the re-boot/sequel made some money, but wasn't exactly a blockbuster. Other than a few fanboys here on TPI, I don't see a market. If there was one, Disney would have done it already (TRON IS their property, right?)

There is a strong rumor that Shanghai Disneyland will have a Tron Cycle Coaster instead of the traditional Space Mountain.

This makes much more sense to me than putting it on Epcot.

Tron as a whole land, not so much. Tron as some form of thrill attraction, I can't see why not. I'm sure WDI could find some way to get it into EPCOT, but I think it would be best to find this property a home in Tomorrow Land. There's certainly enough material there to make an exciting attraction. I don't buy the whole, "Tron is too obscure a property to justify doing anything of real substance as it relates to the parks" mentality. Who was looking for a Song of the South themed attraction when Disney built Splash Mountain all those years ago, and now it's a classic mainstay attraction for the Disney parks around the world. If the concept, ride system, attraction's story and execution of an immersive theme are all implemented properly, there's no reason to believe that a ride based off of Tron couldn't be a gate crashing runaway hit that becomes a Disney classic.

I think that the Energy pavilion in Epcot is well past its prime as far as storytelling. If this large space could be repurposed to an Information Age pavilion with permanent exhibits and attractions about virtual reality and computer technology, then the whole thing could be anchored by a Tron attraction of some sort. I think it could easily pull people into what is essentially a forgotten corner of the park. Located where it is now, you have to really want to go there to go there.

IMO Future World at EPCOT needs a serious makeover. This part of the WDW resort seems to be the most neglected area of the resort. I fully believe that management hasn't got a clue what to do with this area.

I think(my opinion) is that they should retheme the great movie ride at DHS to be tron it would fit perfectly in that space

Michael, I'm sorry but that is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard.

Tron as a replacement for The Great Movie Ride I'd be against. I also never thought of Tron as a fit for DHS because of it's tech based premise. However, if you incorporated Flynn's arcade into the facade and queue of the attraction, then it could fit right into the park and not stick out as such a sore thumb, as far as the ride building would be concerned aesthetically. So 3 of the 4 parks could theoretically have a Tron attraction that could work with the overall theme of the environment. Just a matter of WDI and the bean counters making it happen. You know there must be several blue sky concepts already on the table, or the back burner I guess, at this point. Maybe if the 3rd movie comes out and does better at the box office.

I agree with James (although he put it a little harsher than I would :D)

Tron could make a good ride at Epcot, but not whole land. I have yet to see either movie in full. I started watching the first one and couldn't stop laughing at how bad the special effects are. Because of that I couldn't put myself through the pain of watching the whole movie. The clips from the new one looked cool and the special effects are way better obviously, but the reviews weren't that great. If the 2nd movie would have been a home run, then I could see a land and possible sequels. But since that didn't happen, all I could see is a ride at best.

Some good ideas there. . . either EPCOT or DHS (with Flynn's Arcade), and have an indoor light cycle (so you can see the lights) racing coaster.

I love Tron, but yeah the market is not big enough. The original had the idea but was way ahead of it's time. the sequel was more like a movie than the original Tron. So it does not have a mass fan base.

However Cheap effective ride for those fans is a simple and relatively cheap. Light Cycle Simulator, Just get a couple of the pods deck em out in the Mainframe style and you could just keep em in the basement of Flynn's Arcade.

Of course you could add the Disney Magic and do like a glowing rod dropping from the ceiling you grab it chair comes up behind you and the pod closes in.

This is a cheap and effective ride I think for Tron, Technology has been around since the 80's and with a descent funding the graphics would blow your mind.

Another option
Basically combine Star Tours and The Soaring over California ride. Get a vehicle with the giant screen in front and it moves and all that other stuff!

I'd love to see a Tron: Legacy ride too. The idea of a light cycle coaster in Shanghai Disney sounds brilliant.

I'm sad to hear that elecTronica is finishing, that was one of the highlights of my trip to California about a year ago. I think they should bring elecTronica to Disney Studios Park in Paris. Or a ride, I think they really need another big ride at that park. The Nemo coaster was good addition but the capacity problems are possibly the worst in the world. Added to the amount it breaks down, they need something else for people to run to when the park opens.

My vote would be for Tomorrowland...

Anyway, Universe of Energy will never go away for one reason: Dinosaurs.

I consider myself lucky that I have been to both DL and WDW. They share some similarites in scenery. There is a Dinosaur scene on the train at DL that is very very close to Universe of Energy. Also, the t rex scene is an homage to Fantasia's Rite of Spring.

They can get ride of UOE, but the Dinos have to go somewhere

Revamp on the dinos and off to dinosaur in AK that's what I think they should do

Put TRON in DHS. Shut down the Grand Prix at the Magic Kingdom and theme an attraction for the Disney-owned 'Artemis Fowl' franchise.
