Very cool. I still can't figure out Butterbeer though. It's overly sweet and makes you thirstier than before you drank it, yet I can't get enough.

nice recipe Dom, i will give it a try after sept as my first butterbeer will be then, think il go for the frozen one as i hear it's the best out of the two choices :)

That's right. I'm with Dom, I could always buy Butterbeer (cream soda) at the store. Paying high prices for a different name was never my thing. At home I can use butterscotch schnapps to make the grown up version of butter beer.

Butterscotch schnapps? Skipper, I am going to the store after work today! Thanks also to Dominick for the recipe!

I don't think it is just cream soda... it has a gingerbread taste to it with a tiny bit of butterscotch. The topping is basically aerated soft serve and Cool Whip mixed together.

NB, the times I've had butterbeer, it has always tasted like cream soda (just perhaps you taste a difference that one might find with the different brands of cream soda). I do think you are making the foam more complicated than it is. It's a whip cream of some sort watered down to a flaccid state with some butterscotch flavoring. The home recipes really taste identical.

There's nothing better than a beer and a beer is better than a butterbeer.
Butterbeer is possibly better than butter but it's not better than beer.

Imagine asking Col. Critchlow ( deceased ) to sing about Butterbeer.......he'd have you shot sir.

I will try out your version Dom, I'm sure it's pretty close. USF's version seems be be a bit thicker than regular cream soda. I read they played with that recipe for a while and JK Rowling took one sip of what they serve now and said "Thats it!"
